can you run throttle bodies on a standard ecu with remap, if so what are they like, is it worth is and whta throttle bodies would ppl recomend for a vts engine, just my mate has a set for an r1 i could probs get very cheap
  2. #2
might have.. might have! its asked 5 times a day if you can afford em do it, youl need cams remap injectors and so on
  3. #3
but it can be done on a standard ecu, good good, jus thinking up sum ideas for my conversion, cheers anywa
  4. #4
i think you have to get a stand alone not to sure tbh
  5. #5
    you'll need,

    throttle bodies (of course)
    stand alone engine management,
    injectors,
    fuel rail,

    and much more,

to buy and have fitted everything will cost anything from £3k+++
  6. #6
    thats alot of bucks !!!
  7. #7
    bang wen that idea hahahaha
  8. #8
    indeed lol
  9. #9
standard management runs my r6 bodies ok at the moment, just removed the vacum on the bodies to stop it over fueling and it runs alright. definatly need a standalone ecu if you want to actually gain power haha
  10. #10
yeah? so did you not get any more power with jus the standard ecu or do you mean you got power but its no where near what there capable of? any chance you could post sum close ups of your set up 2 giv me sum ideas? cheers
  11. #11
i would honestly say its running under powered at the moment but with a new ecu it would be good for 150-160 with my cams

From £3k onwards? I dont think so mate..

Your talking around the £2k mark for parts/mapping/fitting.

If you include headwork and cams then its more like 3k onwards...

i was talking to pewseys mate down at omex yesterday, he mentioned shed and the discount. i had a good chat with him and it seems a good deal.

The Hydra ECU thats on mine might be a good option if you're interested. Doesnt require any hardwiring.

I can get some more information/give you a contact number if you're interested.

correct, the main guy is name rich but i taked to the one pewsey knows. seems a sound chappy. they had some good stuff in their new place though, 2 exiges in their with k20a engines and rotrex chargers and the westfield i had to pick up with a s/c duratec enigne 300bhp+ and 6-speed sequential hehe..

anyway., the most popular option these days seems to be a set of jenveys and kms/omex/dta ecu.

all depends on if you can do work yourself really as to the final cost.

There are a few people that have has some standard ECUs from the TU range of engine remapped but I should warn you this is not cheap and does not work ideally. I should also warn you that it is not possible on many of the ECUs. It is generally cheaper just to go with stand alone management. I will also warn you that R1 throttle bodies before 2002 or from and after 2007 are all no good to use. If your after throttle bodies I would recommend just getting a full kit from some one like GMC.
