Head Skimming

    How much does this normally cost ? And how much effort is involed if i take the engine apart and take the bare head somwhere to get it done ? cheers

    if you take the head to them, should be no longer than half an hour. I got my ax gti head skimmed for £30 bones. Not sure what the prices will be down where you are though.

    Have you mullered your head gasket or is it for "performance"?

    its not that expensive but as already stated just depends what area your in as ive noticed things down south seem to get more expensive the further you go

    i would like this done but i just dont trust people, what if they skim it too much and wreck the whole head? how much of a gain are you looking at?

    take it to an engine machinist and you'll be fine. are you wanting it skimmed to raise CR or for HG fix? should be able to remove about 2mm on a standard head but i wouldnt go that for down imo.
