Smoke from breaks

  1. #1
Just came back from dropping my mate off at work and came back country road way, breaks were fine untill one bend and the back end went all wobbly (and so did my legs). Eased up on the accelerator and drove sensibly th rest of the way, thought i was a gooner into the ditch lol.

Came to a junction and pressed my breaks really hard to see if they we're ok and they felt like they wern't doing anything to slow me down fast enough, even if i applied full preasure they took for ever to slow me down. Eventually came to a stop and i saw smoke comming from either side of the car in the headlights.

Is this just the braek's getting REALLY hot? and what damage can i do to them? Burn them so their bauld or what?

    Thanks!

Would assume you've boild your fluid then.

Could be the brakes sticking on, although my mate got his disks glowing red while giving it the full bifta, but no smoke.

just over heated most prob, would explain why they started failing as well coz once they get hot the just wont work! less friction!

only issue it may cause is warping the disc which will then need new pads n discs!
