cheap coilover shocks

  1. #1
    hi,

Does anyone know where i could get some cheap rear coilover shocks for the rear of my saxo.

At the moment i have SPAX adjustable shocks but even on a hard setting it still seems very soft.

I was hoping if somebody would know if there is any type of coilover shocker for the rear i could put on in place of the SPAX.

unfortunatly you ahve shot yourself in the foot with your "title" cheap coilovers wont be much better than what u have...

rear coilovers are in the region of 2k they need custom making

maybe look into the bilstein fixed rate group ns? or look in the for sale section i think muhaha is selling some gaz adjustables at reasonable price

Are you positive is the dampers that is to soft? Its most likely the torsion bars and rear ARB that are your problem if you have nor already uprated them.

gaz sell very stiff rear shocks, i think they are about £40 each, they are increadibly hard when on full hard, me and my dad cant move them when we pull each end lol, and if you sit in the back of my race car it dont go down at all

unless ur shocks have leaked (ud be able to see the oil everywhere) you probaly wudnt notice the change between shocks to much.

it sounds more like either ur bushes need changing, which makes the rear end much much tighter anyway or the trailing arm bearings have gone?

does it feel slow to react at the rear and unstable changing directions?

if uve got a furio another good mod will be fitting vts torsion bars.

with the torsion beam setup you cannot easily fit coilovers to the rear. You would have to weld in suspension turrets, modify the rear beam to disable the torsion bars and allow lower fitment of coilovers. Then you have to buy a suitable coilover that will most likely be custom... cheap generally does not fit into the same sentence

To stiffen the rear of the car with the existing setup you need to fit different torsion bars. Thicker ones increase the spring rate and make the back of the car stiffer.

To do this correctly you'll also need to know the spring rate on the front so that you can keep the balance correct. Usually this will mean upgrading the front springs too.

Lots of options out there for better shocks than the spax. All down to budget though.
