strip out ?? worth it??

  1. #1

hey is it worth stripping out my mk2 saxo vtr . lowered 60mm back 50mm front. would it make a big difference and would it b noticable difference to power 0-60 or anything. stripping out such as rear seats etc thanks matt
  2. #2
im in two minds doing mt vtr as its always handy to have a spair seat
  3. #3
personally i wouldnt do it. dont really see that you can lose that much weight
  4. #4
    it depends really
theres stripping as in removing te seats
then stripping as in just 1 seat and some dials

depends if you think you can hack the extra noise the rattles ect

plus just stripping the rear out will make the back twitchy
you need to remove weight from the front too

I stripped mine so i can fit a cage.
I want a cage to be safer (cos i am old and boring now). I have had stripped cars before and don't mind the extra noise, condensation etc.

Its amazing the problem that can be discovered when you strip it (for example mine was missing asunroof drain, presumably never fitted as the headling didnt appear to have ever been disturbed)

    But.....

Its not my daily driver, its a purely fun car

And although I have lost the back seat, I have gained loads of space for carrying stuff around (at least til the cage goes in)

Sorry, not exactly an answer to your question, but a few points to consider

    similar thing to me
bought my westy as a bare shell so not fitting an interior
and my vts needs everything out to fit the cage haha!

Anyway ever had an old car they've been tempted to flintstone? Me and a mate had an old Mk2 golf shell we were toying with cutting the bottom out to make a flintstone beast, sadly had to be removed off his drive so never got round to it!

i stripped out my vts the other day, i rekon it makes a big difference, car seems more responsive on corners and i rekon its alot quicker. Took out everything apart from dash and front seats. All doorcards, rear seats headlining carpet etc removed. Ready for the tracks next year!

Just take the door cards out as well.

I've done mine for a few reasons...
    1. I like the style.
    2. Dont have to give excuses for not giving people lifts, simple case of, aint got any back seats mate.
    3. Gets used on track every now and again.
