Water from Engine

   Hello!
   
   A problem which is pissing me off! When i start my car, i can hear water running from the engine...ive bleeded the system 3 times properly, the car is fine for a week then, overheating again and the heaters go cold...checked,there's no leaks, theres enough coolant, anti-freeze is mixed in....
   
   ive read that it is the thermostat? or thermostat housing?
   
   but then again it could be the head gasket?
   
   any suggestions?? help please.......

   i would put a new heater matrix in it and new thermostat, also has car had a water pump fitted cos i would get one of those done if its due a belt change, i had same problem on a gti6 and turned out that the matrix was full of sludge and kept blocking up water pipes and airlocking hence the reason temp going up from time to time

   the water most be either leaking externally or internally into the engine, is the oil the right colour i.e npt a white/black colour? is the oil filler cap clean? if you cant see no leaks on the outside at any hose connections then it must be internal. is the mats in the car near the drivers and passengers footwell dry? if its the headgasket definatly get the head pressure tested my mates car was running rough and it kept lossing coolant but the head gasket i fitted didnt fix the problem, in the engine i swapped the engine.

   I have engine water pooling in my footwells :O( the mechanic couldn't find where it's coming from... my engine error light keeps coming on & the revs are moody at best. D'you have any tips please??

   How many bleed points did you use?

   heater matrix isn't that simple is it? whole dashboard to be removed...
