MI 16 calipers

  1. #1
HI, have been searching for ages and am still yet to find out.. Bought a set of mi16 calipers for my saxo vtr mk2, Went to fit them today and the discs went on straight away then came to fitting the calipers and the carriers wouldnt fit over the discs, ie the face of the disc was hitting the carrier, before the carrier sat over the mounting plate. Just wondered if there are discs that will wit? with a different offset, or if the 206 discs will fit? Many thanks oli

not heard of the mi16 calipers on a saxo
i think you might need the 306 discs but im really not sure mate
i know of the 306 brakes being used and the calipers may be the same
    thats purely a guess

guessing you need 206 gti180 disks if they are 283mm for the offset of them to sit right, but dont quote me on it, just thinking the offset may be different, of if you look in the FAQ's danny has put up a link to some disks that go onto the 406 setup...

not sure if that will help you

go measure what offset you need, fit the caliper and measure it, and go look at 206 and 306 disks, see if any of them are the right offset if not there is things like xsara disks to look at

should measure from the hub where the disk fastens to, to where the insdie of the disk should be i think, im not 100% but even if you can get a round measurement it will help find the right disk

Yeah i suppose take the disc off and put a straight edge over where it mounts and measure down.. then try and find out what measurement the discs are on the 206 gti is, will have to check tomorrow if the standard saxo disc fits the caliper, sain if the offset is right and then just get a bigger diameter version.

exactly mate, im sure 206 gti180 disks are the same offset, but you will be able to find that info on google somewhere im sure

Have found out allt eh donor cars eg, berlingo, 306, 206 etc have the same part number for all there brake discs, well 266mm ones anyway. cheers for the help btw

They are the same as 306 S16 calipers and fit with the S16 discs - 266mm.

    Cheers

Just wondered, are the saxo mountings smaller than other cars, cause these discs are tight fitting over standard saxo discs?
  16. #16
405 and 406 brakes dont work on saxo, mountings are different. thats why with the brembos you use 283mm discs, not the 303mm they were meant for.

Cheers for the info.. done away with the mi16's and got some berlingo ones from a scrappy. £20 and a lil bit of grinding and all sorted :-), Yet to try them tho, is the difference big? oli
