My discs have lots of grooves running round them.

The discs are really shiney and look a bit like a vinyl record with lots of grooves around them.

    Do i need new ones?

I will try get a picture later, im just not sure how well a picture will show this

that does happen but it depends on the how deep the grooves are. if you touch the disc (when cold dats important) shoud still feel faily smooth u will feel the grooves but shouldnt be too rough.

a good tip is to run ur finger round the edge of the brake disc. (when cold again) and if there is a lip round the edge then u need new discs.
if you are getting new discs i would defo get new pads aswell even if ur pads havent been on that long.

id say if theres grooves in the middle of the disks, get new ones anyway, because the pad will only be making contact with the top of the grooves, so you will be losing braking performace

yehh i felt and there is a slight lip. i cant afford new ones at the moment so will have to wait.
but also the back discs are producing more brake dust than the front ones. i assume this is down to this.

bake dust can be down to the make of brake pad. i wouldnt be too botherd about the amount of brake dust. you shud see the amount on my wheels if i dnt cleen the car for a few days it then the wheels are full of the stuff lol.
a twat to get off aswell lol.

ive always had apec brake discs and pads before cheap for good quality.
if i rember corectly my rear discs and pads cost be about £40 in total and its easy enough to change.

wont get apec pads though if they are producing that much brake dust on your wheels. and i have white wheels with lots of spokes, so a) it shows up, b) it can get onto the face of the alloy easily.
