Difference In Mk1 / Mk2 VTS Fuel Pumps?

  1. #1
Hi all, just joined the forum.

Ive got a Citroen Ax, which ive just finished a VTS conversion on.
Its running fine on the standard ax pump, but i was going to fit a VTS pump anyway since im wiring in some Mk2 Saxo VTS clocks.

    The question is:
Is there any physical difference in the mk1 VTS and the mk2 VTS fuel pumps?
I know the Mk2 has different sender values for the fuel gauge, but do they physically look the same?

Does anyone have any part numbers?

I have two VTS pumps, which i thought one was mk1 the other mk2. But im not so sure. Just wanted to work out what they were before fitting them.

    Thanks

    Just to add more info....
    The pumps look like this:

Each pump has a coloured plaque, on which the part number is moulded.
Apart from the number moulded on the top of the pump, there is no physical difference between the two pumps.
But i know the sender values are different. The one pictured has a grey plaque.

I have the following part numbers from each pump:
Part number moulded on green plaque
    96 318 838 80
    230/4/3

Part number moulded on grey plaque
    96 375 136 80
    230/4/5

If anyone reading this has a MK2 VTS and doesnt mind posting up their chassis number i can input that and see what part numbers come up for the MK2 to compare

    Thanks wilsy.
I have those part numbers, but the format seems different to the number printed on the pump itself:

    96 318 838 80

So im still non the wiser?

The number you have beginning with the 96 is an AX part number. Saxo ones are usually only 6 digits taking a **** ** appearance with the 5th digit occasionally being a letter rather than a number.

I can check out any citroen part numbers so if theres anything else which you need let me know and ill find it out for you. Can also see the price too which is handy

These pumps are definately from a saxo. The ax pump is different, and has a separate sender unit for the fuel gauge. I wonder the if the part number printed on the pump is the manufacturers number rather than the citroen part number?

Quite possibly, although a long number like that with a 96 at the beginning is common with the AX ive just tried searching for both part numbers on the citroen website against both the AX parts list and all citroen items and its come back as an invalid part number

Quite possibly then it is a number which isnt related to the Citroen parts themselves.
    hmm
