Squealing noise, any ideas???????

  1. #1
When i start the saxo up it makes a sort of squealing noise?
If i hold the clutch in, the noise stops straight away,
but when i release the clutch the noise comes back??
    Aux belt?
    Clutch plate?

    Any idea's anyone??

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated

timing belt may be a bit loose.

Clutch realease bearing is the most likely cause tbh, mine does it but miens more of a rattle than a squeal.....

involves gettin a new clutch tbh

    BUT

before you go gettin a new clutch, check other things like the timing belt, fan belt and other things round that general area

how can the timing belt be loose,

more then likely the FAN belt aka drivebelt if it was a belt...

does it do it when its warm?

    They can, mine is.

But it wont be the timing belt or the fan belt.
Why would it go away when he pressed the clutch in? Deffo sounds like the release bearing to me.

Been informed that its the clutch release bearing, and that i might aswel put a whole new clutch in

So thats another thing to add to the list, alongside a new driveshaft

Not a great start to the new year!!!

I thought thats what it would be as mine is doing EXACTLY the same thing just a rattle not a squek!

Yea you may aswell replace the whole clutch,

    BUT

How bad is it?? as my car has done it since i bought it 6 months ago, since then i have run it up the strip at Santa Pod 10 times and coverd 14,000 miles and the clutch still works lol

im just waiting till the clutch goes till i replace mine tbh

I guess its pretty bad, but if anything its just a really annoying noise! lol

It did it when i bought the car, so iv no idea how long its been doing it?

Il take it to my local garage tomorow and see how much theyr going to charge for parts and labour

im sorry but if the timing belt comes loose then your not talking about a weird noise,

even if it slips a single tooth it well make the engine run very poorly indeed and if it slips alot more or even comes off due to it being ""loose"" then your talking about a new head...

But we still think its the clutch bearing point yeh??

well if it dissapears when its hot im not entirely sure it is.. try putting the car under load when it stops to see if it comes back (eg rear demister, blowers on hot max, lights etc) if it doesnt then yeah more then likely the clutch..

people jump to conclusions to easily on this website...

pm me if you want any more info

I had the exact same problem till last week when my clutch went compleatly, had to push the car home, thing is it was only making that squeeling noise for about a week. Had to get a new clutch which in total came to 200 quid.

Timing belts dont come loose, they stretch, thats why alot have auto tensionors now, Only thing that would squeal on a timing belt is the tensioner/idler pulley but they would get louder depending on engine speed. Sounds more like thrust bearing to me what milage is on it and has the clutch been done?

mines squeels when i start mine up, mite see what happens when the clutch is down tho coz i think my clutch is worn lol, gonna sell the wee sax when av fixed all the bad shit haha
