Compression HELP.....

  1. #1
guys im currently doing a diy turbo setup, initially i wasnt going to forge the internals, however if i enjoy a turbo'd sax i would forge it at a later date!!

Basically i was wondering if 2x 1.9mm headgaskets would lower the compression enough to run 0.6 bar of boost? or would i need it lowered more??

if i was going to turbo a n/a car i would say you could run 0.3 of a bar quite easy on the standard engine/headgasket. how thick is the standard headgasket?

you can get copper decompression plates made up, forgetting the name of the place though.

yea dp engineering do decompression p[lates though they are like £250 and if i was going to buy one i wud just spend the extra muni and get pistons!! standard headgasket is like 1.4 mm or so.... i was gona run 2 x headgaskets and then possibly o.7 bar of boost... what do yuo guys think??

If you want to run up t0 10/12psi on standard internals a single 1.9mm MLS HG will be enough to lower compression enough to run safely if mapping it spot on. If 8psi then a single 1.9mm hg be more than enouugh

cheers sophia, im going to controlthe fuelling with a dastek and it will be mapped by the supplier so i would hope the mapping will be ok...
