but they you need all the pipes wont you? didnt think that they were included with the above
  11. #11
theres also the cost of the double breather pipe which is near £30.

bolts, oil cap and rubber seals, its about £120-130 for the lot new
  12. #12
and they are the TU5JP4 covers as opposed to the J4 you have now
  13. #13
depends how you are running them. As if you have an oil catch tank maybe, but there are 2 breather pipes on the normal covers and 2 on these so you don't need the 2 into 1 breather. as there is a breather just behind the throttle body and one in the inlet tract. So I'm just running from them to the new style covers

i have herd of them hitting the bonnet bracing supports under the bonnet.

im sure i was told there are two types and one is slightly higher than the other. not sure if its the c2 ones that are higher than the 206 ones, or if its a load of bollocks.

steve - i doubt VRS will break one of the engines they have inside, just to sell the engine covers. And any fire damaged ones will be burnt to a crisp lol

there was one on its own the other day

depends if the engine is knackered, although in their day they would still sell it as mint

Thats what I found when looking for a set, no one would sell them, as they go with the engine funnily enough.
  17. #17
yep, not many peeps are going to spumk out for dealer prices as well.
not worth it for some plastic covers like.
just do the standards a nice matt black

aye, he had loads in the last time i was in. but the new owner of ethnic origion isnt daft and the young kid that does all the monkey work knows what things are worth, i recon they will still charge a few quid for them if you managed to get him to take them off and engine.

i recon you should ask him and see what he says
i think it will be something like 'fook off ya mug' then he will set that huge rotty on you lol

Best bet might be to buy one of those 206/c2 engine, sell the head, bottom end, inlet etc. seperate and keep the rocker covers yourself - could end up getting the rocker covers for free. Is a bit of a mission to do though.
  20. #20
best to just fit the 206 engine
can get low mileage ones cheap
  21. #21
Or convince a 206/C2 owner that plastic covers are shit and polished metal ones are amazing - then force a swap
  22. #22
you can get the full engines for between 100 and 200 quid, be better off just doing that imo.
  23. #23
    Whats the appeal in these?
  24. #24
they won't rust is what appeals to me

also have a breather on each cam cover rather than just the one on the s covers
  26. #26
Fair enough, always wondered if there was some base for further performance by adding these with people trying to get hold of em, as in all fairness they look wank. Hate plastic engine covers, makes any engine bay look boring. And the J4 rockers are pretty nice as far as engines go.

Ah right, another breather would make sense, but it wouldn't make a noticeable dif, certainly not 130 quids worth lol
  27. #27
there are 2 on the standard vts/gti ones. Although I don't know if one of them is considered a breather tbh
  28. #28
1 on each cam cover on the c2s though.
  29. #29
a main reason people use them is they have rubber seals as opposed to instant shit you need to use for J4 covers.

In theory a better design and should leak less, and be less of an arse ache after having the cam ladders out etc.
  30. #30
Im sick of getting the whiff of oil through when a drop hits the mani from the SHIT saxo oil cap.

my plastic covers dont look boring

  32. #32
your right they look the tits
  33. #33
do look good man! But to showey for me like. Although it is for a show car as stated in your profile bit.
  34. #34
functionally they are a large step forward in design than the J4 items.

hence why im fitting my set when i get time
  35. #35
that looks nice mate. is that a full jp4 engine? i want a c2 vts inlet
  36. #36
    j4 bottom end jp4 head with a set of j4 708's
  37. #37
shame its a show car with that engine mate.
