Important! : Manifold Exhaust Bolt, Quick help.

  1. #1
So my exhaust dropped down low yesterday, found it had come off the rubber mount at the backbox, but upon inspection along the exhaust I get to the manifold and notice this, should there be a bolt on here?

  2. #2
There should be two bolts with springs to support the joint.
  3. #3
So, there should be a nut on theother side of that?
  4. #4
I think the manifold itself acts as the nut - the holes should be threaded. Give it a prod and find out.
  5. #5
I got to raise it up somehow first, cant for the life of me get under
  6. #6
On second thought, it does look quite loose. If the other bolt has a nut then you know it's missing one.

That's what I miss about standard height - could fit an exhaust without jacking it up haha. Drive it onto some blocks of wood if it helps mate.

ramps or a jack and axle stands to raise it up . . .

This is the kit you will need to join your manifold to the exhaust. As you can see there are two nuts which join to the bolts so you are probably missing these.

What I haven't worked out yet is where the two large washers in the lower right hand corner of the picture go - can someone help here please? I bought the kit today but have no idea where they go on the bolts! - is it by the curved part at the top or near the thread?

they go into the centre pipe flange.

By the way what manifold is that? If it's a raceland those won't fit. Well mine didn't, I used different bolts.

Ah cheers guys. The exhaust is sitting high at the back, but is not on the centre mount. I need it up on ramps I think. And yeah I will just chuck some nuts on the end,no point buying the full kit.

Looking at the photo you have posted above, shouldn't the springs be positioned inbetween the manifold and cat pipe end, and not on the bolt itself?

it's to keep the tension there. If it was on the other side in between, it would be pushing them appart.

You've got completely the wrong bits on there matey.

Order one of those kits from the picture above, you can get them from citroen for £15 or kamracing is about the same price, id get it asap though see if your local citroen has one in stock.

The 2 bits on the bottom right of the pic sit into the holes on the centre section flange (by the manifold) the bolt then goes through that bit and the bolt head actually sits snugly in the recess.

The bit round bit top right goes onto the end of the centre section looks like your old one is still in place.

Then hold the centre section and manifold together, the bolt goes through the centre section and manifold, then as it goes through the other side put the spring in place. Then the washer bits middle of the pic go over the end of the spring which leaves just a small bit of thread remaining which you tighten the nut onto.

It should all clamp together quite nicely then.

Whilst you're at it check the condition of your exhaust bushes, its only about £15 again for a full set of powerflex or motorsport bushes which will hold everything nice and solid

if thats a piper manifold, then the manifold acts like the nut.
  15. #15
Definately not fitted right, theres at least a 10mm gap there between the manifold and centre section flanges, thats gotta be blowing more gasses out the gap than down the centre section

my bolt was missing to took it 2 my usual tyre/exhaust fitter and he put a whole new fitting kit on for a tenner
  22. #22
Ah nice, might just get that done then.
  23. #23

Well, someone said it was all wrong, and for the price id rather just rplace it all. Getting it on axel stands Wed and getting it sorted hopefully.
