i use toyo r888s on track and well yes they are very very grippy, running them on road at moment and not too bad

usual road tyres are yoko 539s, at first i didnt rate them that much, but after a few laps on the ring it certainly changed my mind, a very good tyre

i have toyo proxes and can reccomend them they are amazing although it has still not rained since iv had them on the car
  4. #4
i have been told that toyo arent as good as yokohamas

i used to have A539s on my car for track and road use. never had a problem with them, an they lasted for about 2 years!

i am using S Drives now on the front and they seem good soo far on the road.

you cant get the A539 from yokohama anymore as they have been discontinued, the replacement is the S Drive

i used A539's in past on my old mini and i never had a problem with them rated them pretty good tbh. used yoko parada spec 2's for past year or so on other cars and cant rate them highly enough in the dry and not that bad (compared to wha people say) in the wet. so yoko's definately recomended from me.

Yokos in the dry only, toyos are the best all rounder on same standard in the dry. Eagle f1's are also good however for value for money id go with toyo.
  7. #7
in stock hatch we used to use a359's, when they got discontinued we moved on to c-drive/s-drive, finding out they were shit, we now are moving to yoko A048r's and they are much better and we use them in all weather conditions, the a539's and c/s drives are a bit better in the dry, but all round the a048's are a good tyre.

people slate the 539 in the wet, but theres nothing wrong with them really. my car isnt in a ditch.... and i didnt fly off on croft, so theyre fine in the wet!
  9. #9
i have s drives on my vts, seem to br a good tyre. i was thinking of trying some toyos next time though
  10. #10
    I also run Yokohama's!

    A539's aswell!
  11. #11
    toyo proxies!
  12. #12
I thought yoko a539s were alright in the wet, but had toyos fitted and there alot better than them, but best wet tyre ive used is the goodyear eagle f1!
Dry running yoko all the way really, but they dont last long!
Best all round imo is the toyo though!

f1 gsd 3 fantastic grip in all conditions.downside is wear on the shoulders, even with an extra couple of psi in the fronts.
are we talking road tyres ?
  14. #14
Ive got the F1 GSD3s too, they're awesome, grips good even before theyre warm. The only thing other than the soft shoulders, which is a problem with most high performance road tyres anyway in fairness, is that on the limit they dont start to loose grip gently the grip just tends to snap out. Which could get messy if you get too ambitious. But I highly rate em. And theyre amazing in the wet

i found toyo to be better in the wet than the yokos i used the have...the tread didnt expell the water good enough...although the yoko's were sticky as hell in the dry

    LMAO, yes they do

mine have survived croft twice and the nurburgring and countless thousand miles over nearly two years..

i would say thats good wear
  17. #17
I have had Eagle F1s on all my cars and highly rate them!
  18. #18
Heard very good reviews on the Eagles but havnt tried them yet.

Started off with Toyo's on mine which were brilliant in both the wet and the dry, never had a single twitch or remote problem and they didnt wear anywhere near as quick as people say.

Then changed alloys and tried the Yoko 539s which seemed to be about the same in the dry HOWEVER i found them to be absolutely shocking in the wet, so shocking infact that i got the tyres changed back to proxies after 2 weeks worth of rain drove me mad.

What toyo tyres do people recomend? T1-Rs ?

what did you feel the problem was with them in the wet? really curious to know. lol

maybe just driving too fast for the conditions?

Perfectly capable and have enough driving experience to know what is sensible in different conditions.

At a normal leisurely speed the Yoko's felt very twitchy and the car constantly felt 'uneasy'

Driven on the same conditions with the Toyo's and even in icy/snowy conditions i have never yet to date had even a slight twitch with them in 3 years of Toyo use
  22. #22
Toyos are decent but wont last as long as eagle f1s, got them on mine and there very very good tyres
  23. #23
i have had eagles and 539's and tbh hated the 539's.

again as wilsy has said in the wet they dont seem to perform.

the eagles have always seemed to have plenty of grip in all conditions, oppsed to the 539's which were good in the dry but seemed almost dangerous to me when it was slippy.

i even swapped my vts wheels around so i could have the 539's on the set i was selling and bout some new f1's
  24. #24
F1s > the rest for all round tyre.

Didnt think id be the only one to think it.
  26. #26
I got Toyo T1 rear's and Pirelli Fron't (not sure which though)
  27. #27
A539s are decent as you say in the dry, SaxMax are forced to use that tyre and I remember on rallyeregister they used to swear by them.
  28. #28
ive voted toyos because ive had toyos on my vts ever since ive had it and ive had them changed once and i went for toyos again, theyve always proved very good to me, and the grip feels great to me
  29. #29
I've got Yoko S Drives atm, and they dont grip for me at all, weren't too bad with a lot of heat in them on track, but on the road just cant get that much heat into em.

Will be going with T1Rs next.
  30. #30
Its really between the eagles and the toyos basically for all rounder, yokos are only good for dry use, in the wet there quite scary!
  31. #31
    Toyo R888's for the win!
  32. #32
what toyos are people mentioning?? t1-rs? r888s - these are in 50 profile tho ???

    eagle f1s........................
  35. #35
so its between toyo t1-rs goodyear eagle f1 and what yokohama? sorry but needs to be made a tad clearer
  36. #36
Such a shame Toyo dropped the T1S tyre as Ive heard they are far superior over the T1R
tyre and it seems a lot of you rate the R's.
  37. #37
I've got toyo t1-s's all round and they are perfect in all conditions
