rite the breaks on my vts i think are s**te!! what are the best disks to put on it and will not cost me an arm and a leg lol!!
  2. #2
pads make the difference not discs

If you're after advice on discs it'll be a good idea to let them know what size alloys you have on the car.

sorry ive got 15" vts alloys, well then what disks and pads would be best then? cheers

Heard good stuff about these, slightly better than standard and reasonably priced.

Going to be ordering these once my saxo has been lowered

You alloy size is irrelevant to the question really mate. Since you never said anything about swapping calipers, the disc size you need is 247 iirc that is the standard size.

you could always look at uprating the calipers to 266mm from a 206gti, 306 hdi, or a cit berlingo, they will give you abit more response and brake power

I always found as standard, mintex disks and pads did the job very well

I would seriously considder upgrading to bigger calipers for better brakes, ive just done it and is times better that when i just upgraded pads. There calipers off a berlingo van and have got halfords special pads in, and still a large improvement.

first you need to give your brakes a good service. If the brake fluid is old it doesn't perform as well.

Also check the pads and disks for wear.

That would be your far cheaper option. The standard VTS brakes on a standard VTS are very good to be honest.

Although if your set on uprating your pads, the new EBC Red Stuff brake pads would be a good start. Although from personal experience, generally if you uprate your pads and not your disks, youll chew through the pads. If its your Disks, youll chew through your disks. So if your going to do one, id do the other.

The new compound for RED stuff pads are fantastic, Very Little brake dust great stopping power for fast road use. Im sure some people will disagree though =)
