Supersprint manifold

Hey, had my manifoly on for a week or two now and just wondered if it should have a bracket to bolt it to the gearbox? As the original downpipe did and the 4-2-1 doesnt, Tis a mk2 vtr, Just wondered if the raceland ones did or not.

some aftermarket manis do some dont

Supersprint don't bolt to the gearbox.

Cheers for the info, just seems like a lot of pressure on the manifold bracket when u brake, got all the weight of the exhaust system... But it looks like a fairly strong bracket.

you could fit motorsport exhaust hangers if you are worried. Those and uprated engine mounts tend to increase the lifespan of stainless manifolds

I've got the motorsport hangers on mine and there is very little/ no movement in the system - worthy buy if you ask me.

the thing is there isnt much movement in it as the maniflod just sits against the metal part of the oil filter bracket, the bit the oil filter sits on in the mk2, doesnt touch the plastic filter and is heatwrapped so havent had ne probs yet but am not too sure bout it.

That's the same problem I had mate - mine was fine for a full year and then it started rattling against the oil filter, see here. Yours might be ok as the heatwrap should absorb the vibrations but I had to add some extra gaskets to the head. I'm convinced it's a design fault!

nah the bit where the lamba plug goes in isnt heatwrapped lol, bummer, will have to get some more gaskets when mot time comes. Does urs also sit to one side of the tunnel the exhaust sit in underneath the car? whered u get the thick gaskets from citroen? did it cure it?

the gearbox mount isnt needed mate

I used two sets of graphite gaskets from Andrew Page (were £4 each) and the proper Citroen metal gasket (£2 odd I think). It did sort the rattle though - I only hope it doesn't creep back towards it again.

Exhaust sits a little to the right when it passes under the rear heatshield of the car.
