vtr manifold problem

    hey guys,
im lookin to fit a raceland 4-2-1 mani to my 2001 vtr (2 lambda sensors) my only worry is the 2nd lambda cant b plugged in will this cause my car to overfuel n run rich, ive herd people sayin "put it in a bottle" or "sleeve it" but surely still it isnt connected to the exhaust still and i would of thought it would overfueled or bring the EML light on. Help please people lol

think thats what happened to mine. it failed the mot because of it. i dunno how to get round it but i just went back to standard.

You have to buy a sleeve, Or cover it up somehow, i just but mine in some sealed plastic, similar to klingfilm, to protect it and zip tied it out of the way, havent had any probs yet touch wood and the light hasnt come on, Youll have to put ur cat bak on for the mot neway, and the engine light wont go out on ist own i dont think, (someone will correct me lol,) so ull have to get it switched out then sleeve it, It only needs to read clean air, the sleeve is purely to protect it, so it works come mot time, when u put the cat bak in and refit it to the exhaust.

i zipped tied mine to the radiator pipe out of the way. the engine light didnt come on at all but you could smell the petrol coming from the exhaust which is why it failed the mot, even with a cat on. part of the reason why i put it to standard.

Put it in a metal sleeve mate. Don't like the sound of plastic - the lambdas burn red hot to 'sniff' the gasses.

That's odd, I thought the post CAT lambda couldn't alter the fueling and was only there to check CAT efficiency - i.e that poisonous gasses are/ aren't there after passing through the CAT.

the only thing i could think of was that the post cat sensor was detecting too clean air and thinking it was burning lean so the ecu was putting more fuel into it. the legal limit at 3000rpm is<0.2 or somthing. mine was 15.8!

It's possible, definitely get it sleeved though. Is your engine management light not on? Surely that's an instant MOT fail?
