has any one ever fitted one to a saxo cos my m8 crashed his type r and i can buy the engine box loom etc of him just wandered what else i would need
  2. #2
Not sure what else you would need but I dont think it will fit under the bonnet - there is one on youtube but its intalled in the back and has rear wheel drive. Expensive Id imagine.
  3. #3
they get them in old mini's in the front so i guess there must be room in a saxo
  4. #4
Only worth considering if you can fabricate, lots.

Or have a deep pocket to pay someone to do it.

    Its not impossible.
  5. #5
yeah got moderate money and moderate experience might aswel just buy a civic type r lol
  6. #6
Anything is possible, its just what lengths are you pre-pared to go to.

PM me a price for the running gear, i.e. engine gearbox, loom and ECU. Have cash waiting if the money is right.

As for fitting into the saxo, wouldn't be 2 hard, but it'd cost a lot if you don't do it yourself, you'd be better off turbo'ing your engine or something.

mate anythings possable if you have skills and money , Zcars do a rear engine conversion the cage with engine mounts in rear is like 5 k alone, front end ftw! if you think you can do it, do it would be a awesome project, then you can buy my saxp name off me as you beat me to it

There is one getting built over on ssc..
  10. #10
It would have to be rear wheel drive. Becoming quite common now with elise owners to drop a k20a in the back as it really is a very good engine. Probably make the saxo go like stink but would have to be rwd as be too much power at the front for fwd.

iv only ever seen k20's (which is the engine im presuming you mean) in the back of mini's. they fit b16 and b18 from the ek9 civic and dc2 integra in the front (but it isnt a standard front, they fit longer fronter ends extended wings and bonnet by amoutn 90mm iirc.)

when zcars first did started doing it, the cost was near £10K iirc.

the whole rear axle was taken out and the type r lump put in. would be super quick but not worth the hassle/money imo for what else you can get these days for £10grand

Because all Type R's are rear wheel drive?

As said... it would cost alot but could be done. It would be an interesting project but personally, i'd think it was a waste of money. Rememeber you'd also have to upgrade the suspension and brakes and have exhausts fabricated etc. It wouldn't be that easy!

Good luck though if you do give it a go!
