Important! : over heating with GMC 4-1 manifold

  1. #1
I recently brought a GMC 4-1 manifold for my VTR for £100, when my mate fitted it he said something no longer fitted (think it was the lambada sensor). He said it now doesnt stretch long enough to fit in to whatever needs to.

I know it would affect my car someway, no it over heats and the fan doesnt seem to kick in, so engine gets hot fast when idle or in traffic.

theres gotta be a way to get round this other than me having to pull over when the engine gets too warm and switch off.

anyone know how to handle this, get a part etc etc

    many thanks

make the wiring on the lamdba sensor longer then lol

and if fan not kicking in
    did it work before?
    if it did.
then mani must of burnt wiring. as the mani does sit close to the fan wiring.

I didnt actually know that they did one for a VTR

Going by the one that i have on my VTS engine though there isnt a hole for a sensor. Just the 1 hole in the exhaust system which is fine for a Mk1 having only the lambda sensor in the centre section.

If yours is a Mk2 then you'll be a lambda short, as far as im aware though it shouldnt cause any noticeable problems, certainly nothing on the scale that you're experiencing

a lambda sensor shouldnt cause overheating as all it does is send messages back to the ecu about the richness of exhaust gases im pretty sure

my gmc mani for my vtr.
the hole was at the bottom on right hand side.

you just need to cut and make longer the wires.

    & check fan wiring.

you dont need to cut anything.. you just either unclip from the clip its held to something with and it makes the cable longer, or throw it over the gearbox and bring it to the hole that way

yeah agree with above was gonna say the same, youve gotta loop the cabel around the gearbox the other way

run the lambda wire down the back of the gearbox and it will fit.

    maybe your thermostat is blocked
