Spark plugs

    looking at getting some new plugs for my 1.1 but didnot know wich make or type/style to get is there any that i should avoid or is there any that you have yoused and prefere over others

    Just use standard NGKs, they do the trick fine.

    go for the bosh plus, why fit cheap when uve got it all apart to change them. Its about £19 for 4

    because a spark is a spark...no such thing as an expensive spark.

    NGK ones will do the same job for alot less of the price

    I agree a spark is a spark, but wouldnt bosh last longer, cover more miles that ngk?

    i bought the car off an old guy whos had it since day 1 its at 51000 miles and he only serviced it at the free interval of 9000 its aint bin done since then so im giving it a good work over plugs oil filter fule filter oil ect

    NGK are what are recommended, by Peugeot and by people who know these engines inside out.
    I bought a set of Bosch Super4s, but got recommended to get some NGKs, so did, and they're fine.

    I got NGK's and are totally fine, you will get them cheaper than that from a local car accessory shop

    gonna pop to waterloo 2 moz or monday when there open get all my oil filter fuelfilter ect all at once cheers for the help lads

    Been posted before about spark plugs, so heres a copy:

    People dont seem to understand this issue. The more heat produced by the spark (that is not wasted), the more fuel is burnt (even a moderate mechanic should know that each time not 100% of the fuel gets burnt), the more fuel burnt, the more power produced! Simple.

    A V spark plug (of which there are many types) simply reduces the contact area of the main electrode, which means there is less heat dissipation and therefore more heat in the spark and therefore.............. (see above)

    Irridium and other compounds are also used to reduce quenching (heat dissipatioin) from the electrodes. All of which will inevitably (if effective) give more power!

    I got the bosch ones for my 1.1 have previously had the others, reccomend Bosch!

    theres some irranium or however u spell it ones on that oil site if u find the oil reccomdation thread then go on their site there £33 or summert might get them when i get some cash

    Think you're all getting a bit carried away, he's got a 1.1 giving what 50bhp? A decent spark plug will give him a higher chance of reliability nothing more...

    NGK's are the only plugs i run!

    I've been told of issues caused by Bosch!

    This is true, b ut its not a noticable difference unless your running big power in a saxo lump, thats more important in bigger motors

    End of the day mate, even buying some plugs for £100, you aint gonna notice a difference, might as well save yourself some money, and just get a set of NGKs, they're a tenner(?) and will feel exactly the same as putting some Super4s or Iridium plugs in.

    i like my split V ones, they where £10 for 4, ( i got a slight discount, think there like £15 for 4 normally ) and i noticed a slight difference, the car seemed a bit nippier.

    hi mate i got my bosch super4 spark plugs though the post today! just short of £20 i paid lol ill let you know what there like when fitted next weekend im sure theres not much difference though lol also recived my k&n panel filter

    I would recomend NKGs they may not be the most exspensive but i have always used them and have had no problems.

    i wouldnt bother with bosch plugs, go for ngk, there cheaper and reliable, i work for citroen and we always use them, also bosch super 4's are just chep shite.

    also tbh mate, i drive a mk1 1.1 its got 54bhp, adding diferent plugs wil not make a diference, just use the cheap standard ngk ones. more expensive plugs are not going to make it like a vtr haha,, wish it would tho.

    i have NGK ones but the twin electrode ones. have no idea if thats any better but i'd never pay lots for plugs, got mine for a tenner

    Iridium will make fuck all difference on a 1.1, no point whatsoever, I made a thread asking the same question and ended up going with the NGK's after listening to people's advice.

    Good realiable spark plug for an affordable price, I got 4 off ebay for a tenner, recommend you do the same coz anything else will be money wasted to be honest

    Oh and also split V make no difference either, if you're talking about the ones with the double metal prongs on the end, as electricity will always take the quickest route, which means it will always just travel down whichever of the prongs is slightly shorter, instead of both

    ... for what its worth I got some similar for my VTR (FR6KDC) but two of the ceramic casings broke - probably by over tightening them in all fairness, so im back to the Champion ones I put in 10k ago and it runs fine.

    I've used Bosch super 4s, v twin and single probe NGK and the only difference I've noticed is the price.

    My car will be having a full service today and the plugs I bought were the OE style NGK plugs at a tenner for 4
