just wondering where i could get one from and if i would see any gains from fitting one ? cheers
lightened flywheel on vts ???

#2You can buy a new / replacement one from Demon Tweaks, or if they still offer the service, QEP will lighten your current one. The latter option being much cheaper.
-
#3What are the gains from this?
-
#4The engine doesnt have to spin up so much weight. Lightning the fly will allow the engine to rev more freely.
In a nut shell.1 user thanked this post: -
#5always wondered this too, is it just for weight whores?
-
#6Its all about inertia
-
#7how much difference would fitting one make ? and a rough idea on price to have mine lightened ???
-
#10Ummm pass tbh! I done it in college ages ago. The moment of inertia is like weight going around in circles or something.
The engine will accelerate (literally in RPM) more quicker, and of course, for all actions, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore the engine will de-cellerate quicker, making it more responsive.
They say a l and b flywheels make alot more different than an exhaust system. -
#11Best suited to boost applications.... apparently

But yes, from what i've heard, worth the money. -

cheers for that info, told me somthink i didnt know
looks like a lightened flywheels is the way forwards then
will it affect the torqe ?? -
#13People say that torque will be affected, and it's noticeable when going up hill. The Saxo / 106 flywheel in the grand scheme of things ins't that heavy anyway, so the gains will be small.

#14mistake read it wrong
-
#16no didn't read it properly my bad sorry
just read wheel lol -
#18do they just skim the face of the flywheel to remove material?
-
#19remove metal do qep.
Ill try and dig out a pic of one done by them.
just to comment on colins post, are you sure a lighter wheel will decelerate faster - less weight should mean that the wheel maintains momentum more and stays spinning, although it is proportional to where the weight is a guess -
#20It well definitely spin down faster mate.
-
#21with more weight it will keep spinning longer, will it not have a higher centrafugal force with more weight? keeping it spinning longer?Quote:remove metal do qep.
