One more MC question ;)

  1. #1
Sorry lads but cant find this specifically answered on previous threads. Ive got some 266mm calipers on the way to me soon with OMP fast road disks and pads. Ive got a Furio, not sure what cylinder Ive got but Ive got the VT 247 vented setup as std so im guessing its a 22mm one?

Anyhoo, can you go OTT with MCs? EG am I looking for one off a 206 GTi or can I get a 306 or even 406 one so ive got very tight brakes and low pedal travel? Cheers

iirc the 306 has a 23 mm one, see steve_vts's guide

you'll have a 19mm MC like my vt....

i may be able to get you one for £10 if you need one.

put my vtr brake back on with the 23mc and was ok.

underneath the MC is says what size.

aye it does mate, but what kind of effect would that have on a 266 setup. Cant find any threads, including his, that talk about what size is the limit etc etc.

I want a short and tight pedal, but not one that locks the breaks up when i breathe on it lol

Edit, cheers Frankle might hold you upto that. Did it feel much different?

    let me know boss....

felt better yea, then whack the standard 19MC on and felt like good ole cak VTR brakes...

i wanted to know this too.

but fitting 266 on a 1.1 with a vts powarr plant.

i would have one too frankie if you have more than one?

Any more info on this? Does bigger MC equal less pedal travel or is there a limit?
  12. #12
    yes there is a limit
you will get too a point where the mc pushes so much fluid the pedal will barely move to engage the brakes
you may even damage the seals on the braking system by creating large amounts of pressure in the smaller calipers

i would say no bigger than a 22mm personally on 266s and then adjust the linkage to get the desired feel
    just to play safe
