C2 / Saxo VTS heads DIFFERENCES...!

  1. #1
Are the heads the same. I've seen it done before or are they just using the C2 rocker cover to make it look different.

    PLEASE...

As I'm sure some of you are aware that I am planning a VTS turbo conversion.
Wondered if some of the C2 VTS engine parts are better or offer a benefit at all.

basically the JP4 head has slightly bigger valves than the J4 head.

Its meant to be a tad weaker though, which is why people fit J4 valve springs etc... to it.

Also needs tapping for inletmanifold as the Jp4 doesnt have the top row of bolt holes

Not really worth the hassle really. Wouldn't notice much difference.
Does the rocker cover from a C2 fit the Saxo VTS.

I also saw mentioned about the metal inlet mani from a C2 VTS. What advantage does this offer and is it a straight swap.

how is having a better set of valves not worth the effort> alot of people are doing JP4 head conversions now.

JP4 covers fit direct on J4 heads, as mine is running.

Metal inlet means less chance of boost blowing it appart, also has better design than the J4 plastic one iirc. Although you need to convert the throttle body from to cable system.

Just thought of building one pucker engine out of the 2, would it be worth it. Will Saxo cams fit in the C2 head.
Sorry I don't understand about the cable system.

    saxo cams will fit
bit youll be wanting to use saxo followers and springs in there too

I wouldn't need to tap the head if I were to run the inlet as well from the C2 or JP4 as it's called I suppose.

yea saxo internals in the jp4 head with the jp4 valves

you dop want to tap the head with the JP4 inlet still imo as its metal and should have a top row of holes to support it.

Hence why early c2s were having the problems with the bolts snapping as they needed the top row to support the inlet properlt

Oh I see. I get it now.

Will I notice much different with the JP4 head. I was gonna get it polished and ported I think the term is with a set of high lift cams or would that basically work out to be the same as the J4 head.

Sorry for the confusion and I appreciate the help.

that would be a lot better than the j4 head
a ported jp4 with set of cams in there would be very noticable to the standard

Yeah but compared to a ported cammed J4 head.

if your getting headword just stick with the j4 imo.
