i have a 2000 MK2 VTR and was wondering has anybody on here put throttle bodies on a VTR? if so is it alot of hassle? should i bother? how much would i end up spending? what are the complications and would i have to buy strengthing mods?
    thanks for looking

8vs on throttle bodies gets done a fair bit
similar issues to the 16valves being throttle position sensor ect

spending its up to you really
can be done cheapish for about 2k for bodies and a standalone

can be left on standard internals depending on the profile of cam ect if you swap it out (which youll want to really)

May aswell start on a vts engine mate will cost you a few hundred quid more and better gains

the overall price depends if your doing some internal engine work tbh

should be looking at getting a healthy 180 to 200 depending what work is done and can cost about 3 to 5k

And the rest dude, 200bhp from alot of quotes and prices of ians old engine would be more than 5k.

A 170-180bhp engine can be done just on a hydro grind camshaft with high comps, to be going for 200bhp, you will need solid grind cam, so solid lifters, should reallly use forged rods etc..........

for under 200bhp (id like to think it might reach 200) im looking at 7k in parts alone for my engine

Fit throttlebodies to the VTR engine. So what if you don't have the same power as an equivalent VTS, what you get is a good load of extra torque and a fantastic noise. Fun and fast is not about bhp

would still cost a few grand to do to the vtr

i would do it as its still going to be very fun as kam say

most threads like this get a buy a vts reply though
most guys see it as a better option

It is the sensible thing to do though may aswell start with some power

but its the persons decision at the end of the day, tbh the vtr engines are a good engine

vtrs are a very capable motor

a well done vtr can be as fast as a decent vts round a track
its got a slightly lighter motor so benefits in the corners slightly
get a vts gearbox and i doubt youll notice a huge difference

except a totally different characterisic from the engines.

A vtr with vts box still wont be a patch on a TU5J4 engined car

As Kam said. I loved my 8V on throttle bodies and ran rings round standard VTS even most tuned ones it came up against. That was not even a VTR but just a baby 1360cc.
