Down Pipe / Cat Pipe / Front Exhaust Pipe?

  1. #1
Day before last, my car gradually sounded all crokey. Its got worse and worse untill now it sound like a old piece of rope.

Basically it sounds like i've got a blown exhaust and can be herd a long way away i've been told.

Now, this evening i found that it was the down pipe or Cat Pipe? (What is it called) had a crack through the tubing and letting out a lot of fumes. Just litterly under the manifold! (Hence it smelt of burnt fuel when heater was on full). Its the pipe that goes from manifold down to the miain exhaust pipes. I have no cat on my car, just a middle silencer and a rear one.

Anyone know where i can get a cheap 2nd hand one from? I don't want any performance pipes either. Any help either would be greatly approved!

Has anyone else had this problem and what are the consequences if you carry on driving it with a split? The pipe going to rip apart and exhaust fall off?

    Thanks
    Dan

Try ebay. Thats always a good place. That can happen sometimes due to excessive play, make sure all your bushes are ok and things are tight, as it may be rubbing and banging up agaist things.
