fao magnex cat back owners

was talking to a mate in the pub the other night about my exhaust and how quiet it seemed.

when i got my vts it didnt have a cat in the exhaust and it was really loud. so the first thing i did was get the magnex cat-back off my vtr and put it on the vts. i dont know if its just cause the vts was really loud before and now im comparing it to the magnex but it sounds the complete opposite - really quiet. quieter even than what i remember the vtr was like and that didnt have an aftermarket manifold.

i mentioned this to my mate who has a magnex on his 106 gti and i explained how i have:

    the manifold,
    cat,
what i think is a centre silencer,
    backbox.

he queried the "centre silencer" as his gti doesnt have this even though his has the cat-back too. i dont have pictures of my exhaust at the moment plus i'm at work but was just wondering if anyone else has this in their system.

the "centre silencer" is the long cylinder in the top of this picture clicky i thought of getting a decat but this will just replace the cat, leaving the "centre silencer". from what i've read i'd also loose a bit of torque by decatting it too

if you want it bit more loader get a centre section of kam with out the silencer on them magnex are not a noise exhaust

i dont it anywhere near as loud as the vts was when i got it, hence why i got a magnex in the first place

i'll prob just leave it as is.

magnex made 2 versions of this exhaust, the first being quite loud xsc01 and the second having 2 baffle sections xsc05, the xsc05 is not as loud mate. i have the quieter one on mine and i prefer it to the louder one but thats just my opinion. i would recommend taking the cat out and replacing it with a scorpion magnex etc etc de cat pipe which imo opinion gives best results or another option is to buy a super sprint centre pipe. loud as fook as no centre baffle section. hope this helps mate
