Lads Wondering if you could help me? Do Mk1 Saxo Exhaust manifolds fit Mk2's
I have a 2001 VTR Mk2 and want to de-cat it but i hav been told it is easier to do on a Mk 1 so if i changed the manifold and bought a De-cat pipe for Mk1 would tht work please help.

the mk1 and mk2 saxos are slightly differant as the oil filters changed, if you was going to swap manifold and down pipe to the mk1 it would hit your oil filter providing that it is the plastic one and not the metal screw on one.

if it is the plastic one the you would need to buy an oil filter relocation kit so that i freed up the space.

if your changing the manifold to a mk1 you wouldnt need to buy a decat pipe as yours cat will be in the mani yes? so if you swapped to a mk1 mani you would be de catting your car, would be better of saving and getting a 4-1 mani

You will more than likely have to move the oil filter matey. Sounds like whoever you bought it off had relocated it to the MK1 place. So just relocate it back to where it should be on MK2 Saxos.

Could you not get a normal cat and stick it under the car?

When i phoned the local citroen, they said the CAT should be in the downpipe. So i went and ordered the cat and standard mani and now it wont fit. Do you think my car has been late registered or something? Its an x reg mk2,now the garage telling me i need the one under the car. Can some one shed the light as to what models have the cat where, and whats the crack with the oil filter relocation thiingy?cheers-davePics of a standard mk2 mani and oil filter would help.thanks-dave

mk2 has the cat on the down pipe. if the mk2 mani and cat arent fitting then the previous owner must have put a mk1 oil filter on. to solve this just buy a mk1 cat and centre pipe fit these for mot. then after mot replace with your original centre pipe for the decat.

been a x reg i think its running the last of the 90bhp engines mainly found in the mark ones so, citroen are right in that your car should have a cat between your manifold and centre pipe, on easy way to tell which engine you have is by the interior , early mark 2's with the cat under the car have a dark gray/black interior with striped pattern and the later ones are all black with gray squares iirc

yes mark2's before the "Y" reg 2001 came with a mark1 engine basically and have the same setup as a mark 1 VTR. The setup being = cat underneath the car after the standard manifold, whereas mark2's built in 2001 ("Y" reg) or after the cat was put into the standard manifold with the exhaust system being extended to cover the area where the cat was in the mark1's

Also the oil filter is the same on the mark2, pre 2001 models of the vtr as the mark1's, which is the metal one and not the plastic ones that post 2001 vtrs were made with i believe

Is it true that if you changed a Mk1 to a Mk2 it wouldnt be worth it becuase the mk1 manifold is more restricitve even without a cat? Thanks
