You don't need an engine crane, just remove everything that would foul it underneath, get 2 or 3 m8's together and lift the front of the car up and over the engine. Just prop the engine in rougly the right place n height n your away! Other than the couple hours it'll take you to plum it all in, lol.

Yeah, as said - drop it through the bottom.

HSS and other hire places will rent you one for a day for a few quid as an alternative mate

Is it for working on your Saxo? You can do a engine swap with out one if you get a few mates to help. You can do its your self if you have a good size jack but its a right pain. What you can do is actually lift the car up and drop it on the engine. Chock the rear wheels well and jack the front of the car up and hold it up there on blocks of wood or similar. If you have a few strong guys to help you can actually just pick the front of the car up on to the wooden blocks. Then slide your engine under the car, best if you can have it on a jack. Then lower the car slowly on to the engine. If your engine is on a jack you can jack it up and just guide it in to place. Its actually a dam sight harder than it sounds but it is possible if like me all the oil fall out your crane. You can do it to get a engine out of a car as well.

Edit: Dam some one always beats me to it
