Searched before anyone says that. Lott of talk on here about loosing weight from cars etc etc. And just want to know the standard weight of a VTS wheel, rim only no tyre.
VTS Wheel Weight
-
#1
-
#2Think its about 9kg iirc
-
#3thats quite heavy for a wheel right ??
-
#4Not really I dont think
-
#5it is when you compare then to oz and team dymamics etc..... iirc vts wheels are about 3 kilos heavier each so thats 12 kilos more weight on a full set
-
#6yeah but oz and team dymamics are aftermarket wheels and designed to be lighter as used alot in racing
-
#7well yea mate. some people are really keen on weight saving so change the wheels, i personally cant be arsed changing my wheels. i love my vts wheels!
-
#8adsayer was gonna weigh one ages ago, dont know if he ever got round to it. Could be worth a PM
-
#9Yeah thats what I read, hence I started thsi thread..
I am sure I wont be the last person to ask this -
#10When I get some new tyres I'll grab one wheel when they take the tyre off and take my fishing scales!
-
#11Anyone got one any sooner?
-
#12just weighed mine there for you without tyre its not road worthy because its buckledbut it wighs 7-8kg but not to sure how accurate my bathroom scales are
-
#13Bathroom scales are rubbish from what I have read.
Wheels also depend on their offset and width too.
Theres like 25454 threads on this now.. -
#14i wieghed just a standard vts rim with no tyre i use them scales to weigh parcels and there pretty accurate for that
-
#16As above really, ive searched and read about 30 threads. Everyone just says I will find out and post it up.
-
#17Sorry your right mate. Ment wheel weighs in general.
Need some tyre weights sorting too imo -
#18lol still isnt much of an accurate answer
-
#19
Adsayer...?
-
#20patience my child.
look my rims are being powdercoated at the moment 250 miles away from where I live. Once they're back from the powercoaters the rims will be weighed by dadSayer. Then when I'm swapping over the rims I currently have on (VTS rims also) will be weighed with the tyre on them.
tally ho! -
#21Legend

#22what do VTR alloys weigh? do they weigh less than VTS alloys?
-
#23Yes, they are smaller.. so I guess
-
#24does anyone know the exact weight of VTR wheels?
-
#25we already have one problem on our hands
-
#26Anyone had a chance to give this a go yet?
-
#27Any news? Someone must know how much a VTS wheel weighs???
-
#28adssssss?
-
#29do you want the tyre weighing on its own or on the rim??
-
#30rim alone
-
#31give me 2minits
-
#327467grams thats what my spare weighs with no tyre1 user thanked this post:
-
#33Is that a VTS wheel? So 7.5kg?
-
#34yes mate i weighed it on digital scales and that was the reading its a standard vts rim gloss black and just the rim no tyre
-
#35Ah nice. Lighter than I would have expected.
-
#36may i ask why you needed this info lol just curious
-
#37Weight saving
-
#38just a quick question will diffrent tyres weigh more which will add weight on top of the rim weight and are vts rims lighter compared to say 106 gti rims??
-
#39Yeah... not sure about the difference though.
hmm (thinking in typing), if a OZ leggera weighs 4.9, thats 2.5 per wheel less. 10kg overall.
still 10kg off my target of 900. -
#40Good work.
The 106 GTi rims are lighter for sure, but I can't say by how much... Different tyres will weigh different amounts. Racing tyres will be a fair amount heavier than standard tyres also. -
#41106 gti rims are 14s aren't they?
-
#43And pretty darn light. I never weighed mine, but every set of rims I've had since have been much heavier. I'm fairly sure they were lighter than my spare wheel - steelie.
-
#44The VTS alloys are easyly heavier then any other factory fitted alloy I've come across, was very surprised when I took them off for the first time. They do look fairly good tho
-
#45Well, Peugeot Cyclones weigh in at a huuuge 8.4Kg I think, and the Lasers are even more than that.
