Interior switches

Is it possible to take the hazard light switch out, and cut out the 2 wires going into the back of it, and solder them onto a toggle switch?

Because i thought it would look cool to take off all the blanking panels and siwtches out, and then fit one long panel of toggle switches.

    Thanks, Nick

there is more than one wire into the back of the hazard switch - theres 8.

was guna say that aswell noddy....

although im sure some how you could wire it up to a toggle...
  4. #4
hmm you must be able to somehow cause im sure some are for the light in the switch. does annyone know where you could find a wiring diagram for the switch or something?

Whats the rear demister switch like? is that easier?
  5. #5
the rear demister has 5 wires IIRC. I'll get the haynes manual out in a bit and have a look, not sure if it has diagrams for the switch end though....

i was thinking of doing this aswel and gettin a carbon panel and fitting them onto that.
  7. #7
Yeah have one long carbon fibre panel, with all the switches mounted in.
  8. #8
I was thinking of doing it, but IIRC it looked to complex at the time with all the wires that were there for each switch....

i might give it ago lol, got somethink to do then.

also wonder if streamline do a carbon panel for the switces

Yeahhh mate. ask streamline. i will buy one (depending on price) but you could also technically put a light switch there as well. if you splice a switch into your lighting loom then you can keep them in the on position on the stalk permanently and then control them on and off using a toggle switch.

Can you get from streamline a carbon fibre panel to mount the electric window switches in btw?
  11. #11
ask saxomark where he got his electric window switches panel from as not sure ill ask streamline if they do a panel bit like that.
  12. #12
Aahh i knew someone on here had a panel with electric window switches in.

Yeah it would need to be a panel like the width of all of the switches and the same height. The stereo blank is 8.99 and it would need to be smaller than that, with some holes drilled in for toggle switches to screw into. so if a stereo blank is 8.99 what we want should be like 5.99.

We need to check that toggle switches can be mounted onto the hazard switch and the demister switch.

Do you have the max power saxo modifying haynes manual vtracer? cos i wanna show you something in there.

the hazard light switch has a + and - for each side of car, a + and - for the light thats in it. its simple enough to wire them to a rocker or toggle switch. i did it and then fitted an LED on the lighting wires

yea i got one but im at my gfs lol, ill get on to streamline now and ask if they do one drilling holes in it can be done easyier enough.

Yea need to find out about the toggle/led switches.

    so would this be right?

Lol. at your gfs and sitting on saxp.

When you get home go to page 154 and have a look. thats what we need but rather than just covering the 4 blanking panels we need it to cover the whole width, and tbh if they just give us some carbon fibre that will fit we can bond it onto the original blanking switches ourselves like in the manual.
