cheap ECU remap service

  1. #1
Came across this on ebay recently a cheap ecu remap servicehttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-C2-C3-...3A1|240%3A1318

only reason im looking at it is ive heard of chipwizards but they are located know-where near me as i live in east london, the guys on the ebay add have their technician come to you

Seems a decent price but i was just trying to gauge your thoughts on this service

First thinkg to find out is if its a generic map or will it be custom for your car.. What mods are you running

...apparently they can tune a 125bhp Citroen Saxo (didn't know that was the original BHP, buy whatever!) up to 155bhp after their £275 tune up?

    I suggest *nobody* does this.

I'm not even pimping my own ECU product - go to Chipwizards before you go to these guys!

    Ridiculous claims.

so its suggesting 30bhp increase, these things make me laugh, would you say the superchips claim of 6bhp on a standard VTR is anywhere near accurate?
  5. #5
lol Andy i did not even get down that far on the page. As Andy just said i would say clear. I would how ever look at his management system..

i wouldnt trust it, there is probably a reason why they come to you........ i know i wouldnt want 10 sax-p blokes banging on my door because i screwed their ecu's and then engines up

    i dont know about these.

    BUT

recently a lad off another forum took his cammed gti to ChippedUk and they charged £375 and get 3 years warranty. his car had exhaust system, manifold, induction and 708's and it made 159.6 BHP wich is pretty good.......and cheaper than chipwizards.

theres a better servie then that on ebay i found it yesterday, a company offering re-mapped ecus for sale or with exchange, i asked him if he'd take my ecu and 110 for a mapped 1 and he said he couldnt but if i wanted i could send him mine and he would remap and unlock it plus an extra £5 for postage, i then asked him whats involved and he told me about the map, i then asked him if he could work in my mods tellin him ai have all breathing mods and soon to be cams and a ported an polished tb he replied sayin i'd have to wait till i get the cams etc fitted or he couldnt map it to suit tellin me it would run terrible, also added that if i specify my internal tb diameter and the ported size after he would work out the increase in airflow and map to suit, in short hes proved to me he knows what hes doing and isnt jus ullshitting to get a sale, thats a good price! sorry bout the essay but i thought i'd share all the info with you and you can pass your own judgement

good stuff, hopefully there will be some sort of competition between company's to get the prices to a sensible level.

and blackie, id avoid that chip/remap. as if hes sending you the ecu how can be bespoke to your car.? you may tell him you have a manifold and cams but how does he know what cam's require what fuel? etc etc.
the only way to map a ecu properly is to get it on a rolling road or live mapping.

is this what you are tralking about is this what you are talking about http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Citroen-Saxo-F...1%7C240%3A1318

i would not trust these guys with my car tbh. if its mobile mapping they do then it will be a generic map they use, not the best option for the money involved etc

nah m8 pretty sure this is the guy

thats not the actuall thing i was on about thats just an ecu with a diffrent map, the guy said he could map mine to suit my mods long as told him what i have, obviousley going to do it properly or he wouldnt have asked for the before and after tb inlet diameter so he can work out the increase of airflow, the claims of bhp in that add are a bit over the top but then he is bound to add on few to get a sale, i see no reason he would ask for the tb diameters if he was jus going to alter a few things?

still, thats not the correct way of doing things.

so if i told the guy i was running 45mm kms boddies with a tract length of 220 mm and using cat cams with a duration of 274degrees with 11mm of lift at tdc. maniflow exhaust with btb system and compression ratio of 12:1 are you saying he can map an ecu to suit this withoutlive mapping or a rolling road???

ive obviously gone over the top with ^^ that but it has the same logic.
you can not map a car properly without getting the car on the rolllers or live mapping.

cipwizards that cheap now eh interesting
  20. #20
yeah m8 i understand what your saying, its not guna be perfect or achieve what you "could" get out of your car with a live map, but for 115 you cant go wrong, your still gonna see a fair increase in power for the price with a notable change in acceleration, tbh round my area i dont know of many mappers the ones i do know are relly expensive and arent really highly reccomended

you cant always tell if that 8bhp increase figure was on a standard saox or one with modifications. but if it was on a standard one then i would certainatly pay £295 fro 8bhp, a good exhaust system and induction kit might only get you that and they can cost hundreds of £££s

yeh ive got a milltek cat back exhaust and green direct induction kit on, the 8bhp is on top of the power that the exhaust and induction, they say that all told wiv exhaust induction and remap shud get around 20bhp, the total price is just over £700 for that dunno if thats an alrite price?
