My crankshaft pulley is knackered. has been for a while. bein repaired as we speak but its been knackered for about 3 months probs. are there any side affects to this. could it cause power loss or anythin like that. or anythin else?? thanks

it can put the timing out this loosing power
if it had collapsed say goodbye to your engine

if it had collapsed more than that would have happened
from reading what your putting it sounds more like your on about the alternator belt pulley
the pas ect will drop off as the electrics will lose power ect (mine does it as my alternator is rogered)

Crank pulley, this drives the alternator belt, so surely all that it could at the worst is stop the battery charging

lol . thats all they said. power steerin, heaters etc. went y day. its been making noises on start up for a lil bit but it went after 5 seconds. cars been fine so i didnt bother with it. didnt notice any difference. surely it wud only affect timing and valves if it collapsed. not 5 seconds on start up.?

it can cause fricton ans cause the actual timing belt to be under stress
thus it can be a tad worse

but not as bad as we origonally stated

i cant affect the timing, worst thing is the pulley snaps off, it cant damage anything, so the battery light would illuminate on the dash and would eventually die

the garage said it had snaped. i doin a trackday in a week so i hope a new pulley shoud sort it.

my alternator pulley went and it pulled my timing out
hence my car wont idle properly now
cba to fix mine as i have a new engine

if its setup and mapped right they can idle fine

well with cams the timing will need to be sorted on rollers to get them back to the optimal spot cause standard timing isnt the best spot

the car has only been driven a mile so it shud b fine. its already been mapped and timing changed etc.

the timing may haev allready been done
but if its out then itll be losing power

having only driven a small amount you may be ok
