Lamba sleeve?

  1. #1
Where can i get one of these from??? When i put my 106 downpipe on i will need to sleeve one of the lamba sensors right???
  2. #2
    gmc do them
  3. #3
hang on, what exactly are you doing ?
  4. #4
hes putting a 106 non cat mani on his vtr i think
and wants o sleeve the lower lamda
  5. #5
ah right, you sleve one sensor and leave the other at the bottom.
  6. #6
ive got a 106 downpipe to fit to my mani so it will decat my manifold, so i need to do something with one of the sensors dont i ??
and the other sensor screws into the manifold?

Yep you just leave the top sensor where it is and put the one after the cat in a sleeve
  8. #8
    i see, thanks.
is this the same procedure for the raceland manifold as i think im going to purchase one of these instead of arsing about with the standard mani
  9. #9
they sell the sleaves on kam racing
  10. #10
yeah i think so wat ever mani you get youve gotta sleave that second lamda or the engine mangement light stays on i belive
  11. #11
thats correct mate. you need to sleeve the 2nd lambda. once the cat is out the mixture will be rich. you need the 2nd lambda sensor to be read clean, so the idea is to fit it to a sleeve and this tricks the ecu into thinking the cat is still in place.
gmc do them and a few other places as well.
then its just a case of fitting the lambda to it and securing it out of the way

with out it, the ecu light will come on and bug the shit out of you
  12. #12
does it also put the ecu into some crazy mode?
Ill get a sleeve if i can find one on one of the sites, ill check cam and gmc now..
  13. #13
    http://www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk/index...roducts_id=186

i take it this is the correct part ??
  14. #14
    Yeh, i think so.
  15. #15
it may send the ecu into a safe mode when the light comes on?? im not 100%

mine used to come on and off all the time even when i had the sleeve fitted.

you will also need a plug to blank off the hole in the manifold or decat pipe where the lambda should be.
  16. #16
that is the correct sleeve from gmc matey
  17. #17
ok and is that lamba blanking plug on kamracing the right plug?
  18. #18
yeah it is i belive m8 but just ask them on here
  19. #19
fuck that 15 quid for a sleve home made with a coper pipe ftw actualy come to think of it i dont have mine in a sleve and the em light hasnt came on. and as for the plugging the hole in the mani i was rough and got two washers just smaller than the size of the hole. one on the outside one on the inside poped a bolt and nut through it tightened it up and covered it with zorst paste. lol
  20. #20
the main reason for the sleeve is that the lambda has a heat element in it that gets mega hot! try to keep hold of it when you start up the car and see what happens lol.
  21. #21
oh well i better check its not melted anything lol
  22. #22
its there to aid the reading of mixture during cold start idles etc. it does get hot on its own.
the lambda only works on idle and on light load.
  23. #23
think i better move it its sitting on top of the pipes next to the battery i just used the clip for them to hold it in place.
  24. #24
just make sure its not getting hot and melting anything.

i just have mine on a small plate mounted next to the bottom of the manifold. getting cool air on it all of the time.
  25. #25
just moved it will need to make a sleeve at the week. it hadnt melted anything but better save than sorry
  26. #26
ill buy the propper sleeve, is a lot of money but worth it i suppose..
  27. #27
it will be easy to make a sleeve up. you just need to know the thread of the lambda sensor. either have someone machine one up for you, or find a nut that fits and weld the nut to a hollow tube and weld an end on the tube.

you could try and PM williams_vts, tell him i said for you to ask. he may be able to machine one for you i know he has done them in the past, just depends on how busy he is at work.
  28. #28
hmmm ok ill try him, although how much would this all cost? the sleeve to buy is £15 sooo...
  29. #29
ask him if he can do you one first.

not sure on the cost, if he can do it, he normally does them on the side when he is not busy.

i will text and ask him now
  30. #30
yeah thanks mate that would be great
  31. #31
he can make a few up for 5 of the finest english pounds plus the delivery charge

    £5 + delivery
  32. #32
best to send him a pm saying you want one so he knows.

same with anyone else wanting one.
  33. #33
    sorted cheers mate thats mint
  34. #34
awesome ill beer that in mind when i get my mani and exhaust betta than 15 quid lol
  35. #35
so why do 00- vts decats come with a lambda hole if all that does (when you put the 2nd lambda in) is put the management light on?
seems a bit pointless putting a lambda hole in the decat at all does it not?
