Glanza V engine advice..

   Nothing to do with a saxo but my brothers mate has recently bought a glanza v and was telling me about it, he said hes aiming for about 200 bhp, cant remember what he said hes doing to it though.
   
   Basically what i wanted to ask was, the engine is a 1.3 turbo right, so the turbo must put the engine under enough strain whilst being ragged about so wouldnt 200 bhp on a 1.3 be too much. Would this kinda power need uprated internals ie. forged parts?
   
   Also, what would be needed to get a glanza running about 200 bhp?

   they come standard with 130 bhp and ive seen ones for sale on piston heads with 180 - 190 most of the speclists say uprated turbo pistons ect better intercooler so you dont blow things uprated cam alot is involved buy anythinks possible with money and a jap car lol

   2 of my mates have glanza V's, one has 160-170bhp and the other 186.7 atf and not finished yet, still adding performance bits and taking weight off

   its not any 1.3 its jap and reliability will go down will need servicing verry often ect just like any proformace cars i u want to keep the bhp u look after her

   kiddie round my way has got something like 350bhp, eats skylines. could hear the turbo over the sound of my mates red-top corsa on full chat.

    Im getting a glanza next, and i have some info for you.
    
    It is fairly easy to get 200bhp. They are 133bhp standard, but just by derestricting the high boost in gears 1 + 2 by swapping a pipe about you can see a 25bhp increase, and there are a few other easy mods to get them to 200bhp. See this thread on UKSC:

    The stock internals are fine for running a glanza at 200bhp at 1bar. But if going over around the 220 mark you need to do a few more complicated things.

    td04 conversion is the best for street use will see good performence gains
    
    dont be fooled by quoted power figures most is bullshit.
    
    you will not run over 16psi on a ct9 turbo safely and will not run big power with out afr adjust trough managment.fact
    
    so guys that have adjustable actuators with an fcd like to bullshit figures.

    cant get power down coming out of corners
    
    keept stepping out constantly. tryed every suspenion
    
    finished with tein coilover straped with strutbraces polybushed everything and eagle f1's still crap on the back roads.(starlet gt)
    
    glanza fell apart tbh
    
    they also feel dated without being oldschool.
    
    again this is just my personal opinion feel very unsafe driving one.
    
    @ as far as engine advise goes tell your mate to look into tdo4(scooby turbo) conversion. alot cheaper done and better result than most turbo kits on th market

    my mate got a nice wee glanza for 2k and thay are scarily quick lol!! but i have to agree u do feel unsafe due to the handling, and can cost a fortune sometimes to get the turbo fixed

    my friend has one they are really nice, but i wouldnt swap my gti with one.
    
    my mate is running about 170ish, he has, HKS actuator rod, custom tubular manifold, full 2.5inch exhaust, front mount intercooler, air filter relocation kit, and some other bits. but the main thing he has that you NEED is a limited slip diff!!! some have them from the factory, they were an expensive optional extra, his one didnt show it on the original paperwork, but when we jacked it up we found it had one.
    
    the handling isnt amazing (even with his tein coilovers, adjustable top mounts, whiteline, rear anti roll bar) its just about on parr with my gti as it is now.
    
    dont even get me started on the brakes!! tiny, not vented = overheat very easily!!! must be changed!!

    Starting to sound not worth it for the money tbh, was really thinking about getting one to mess around with for a year but not so much after talking to people.
    Mainly its the handling that puts me off and the price.

    ok in the starlets defence, standard out of the box they are not too polished handling wise, they share similar dated suspension technology with the saxo so torsien beam at the back and macpherson struts at the front like you guys, but there is one very important omission
    
    
    
    the main weak point that everyone overlooks is that the starlet never came with a rear anti roll bar from the factory, why toyota omitted this is a mystery as 99% of cars have this( this can constitute most of the bad vibes about the handling)
    
    an easy fix is to fit a rear anti roll bar, even on standard suspension settings its like driving two totaly different cars and takes away the dull traists opening up a fluid chassis.
    this single mod rectifies most of the handling issues.
    
    @samcon the brakes on the glanza are vented dude so dont know where your getting your info from,

    my mate has a starlet gt turbo witch is basically the same just older and he is running 230bhp at the moment but next saturday he's got a few more bits to put it upto 280bhp he is running a td04 turbo and hes had his whole engine rebuilt cant remember what else but its fast! he beat a pulsar gti-r the other day
