Clutch Lifespan

  1. #1
Hi all, i've tried serching but no joy. So what sort of mileage have people been getting out of there clutches? i am thinking of standard clutches, not uprated stuff. I'm most interested in VTS owners, but all cars would help give me an idea of an average. I know that this is only a rough idea as there are many factors to consider, such as driving style and how and where the car is used, i.e motorway miles.
    Thanks.

    Well i have a mk2 vts 2001,

I had the clutch replaced at approx 50k when the box was replaced (would have been daft no to) however the old clutch had plently of life left in it.

I would say that as long as you drive it smoothly and you arent running much more power than standard it should last 90k

    Hope this helps you mate

I am on my original clutch, 51 plate vtr 85,000 miles. It is on its way out now, biting point has increased loads over the last few months. I can see it start slipping soon.

the range of miles will depend alot on the driving style, the amount of use the clutch gets (town or motorway etc...)

and for those who say std clutches are cack, mines dealing with a 200bhp engine atm and has done for alot of abuse.

I highly recommend just fitting a new valeo once they go
