decat mk2 vts

right im getting really confused here, i want to put a decat pipe on my mk2 vts, its an 02 plate. Ive been told that the lamda sensor is on the cat so i cant do it.

What does the lamda sensor do??

Is it true that i cant buy one for my car, without losing the sensor??

Or do they sell decats with lamda sensors in?? would i need to buy anything else aswell??

to decat a mk2 is easy, just put a mk1 manifold on it, end of! but the lamber sensor just monitors the emissions and so wivout it may cause one of the dash lights to come on. but i rekkon itl run fine wivout the sensor but will fail MOT wivout the cat and sensor

Check underneath the car mate, I have a mk2 vts and i only had one lambda sensor at the manifold and not at the cat. If this is the case then all u need is a decat pipe. Failing that, if you do have a lambda sensor at the cat, you can buy a lambda sleeve from GMC which screws onto the lambda sensor, keeping the ecu happy and the engine management light on the dash off.

    Link here for sleeve:

    Hope this helps

Wrong, all VTS' have the cat under the car i.e. use same manifold

I know my VTS only has 1 sensor but mines ancient! It kinda looks like a spark plug, with a wire coming out. It will have one where the manifold meets the cat, then the 2nd one (if you have one) will be after the cat. If it hasnt got one then you just need a VTS/106Gti decat pipe! It it does, then follow the above and get a decat pipe (about £30 off ebay).

so how can i tell if it has a lambda sensor under the car, do i need to check the manifold??

i have a vts mk2 2002 and yes there is a lambda sensor that connects to your cat if you look under the passenger side door you will see the wire going into your cat.
you can get a magnex de-cat pipe from demon tweeks with a hole in it for the lambda sensor ive got one on mine mate cost you £69.

yer get a decent de cat with the lambda hole in it
