will i get any gains...

    i got a 90bhp silvertop mk2 vtr,

    it has...
    raceland manifold
raceland induction kit with green filter
    supersprint race centre section
    supersprint race back box

i have to fit, a newman ph3 cam and wondered if it would be worth putting a rallye inlet on it?
  2. #2
Some people struggle with getting them to work 100%. As long as you have it on before your remap so it can mapped with the cam, i would of thought you would make more power with it rather than without. Make a awesome noise aswell.
  3. #3
so it would give me a little extra power with it?

might get 1 before i get my cam fitted

will it fit my car? its the 90bhp silvertop early mk2 engine

dont know if the rallye inlet fits mpi or only spi etc?
  4. #4
Yea it fits your ports fine. People usualy have trouble getting the sensors to match.

If you can afford it, while the head is off, have some work done on it. 8v's respond VERY well to a good head job.
  5. #5
how much would i be looking at for some head work?
  6. #6
Depends hugly on were you go and what you have done. With your proposed spec, theres not much need to go for larger valves. Just a very good porting( anti-reversal ratchet on the inlet side and high flow, three angle valve seats) re-lapped valve seats, skimming depending on what cam your using and a rebuild with new valve stem oil seals, cam seals and stronger valve springs. With springs and a vernier pulley, your possibly looking at £4-500+ on a 8v. Could be worth 10-15bhp though

cool so what kind of figures do you think i would be looking at with it all complete?

the raceland mani, raceland + green induction, supersprint race centre, supersprint race back box, newman ph3 cam, rally inlet, head work and remap?

I can remember a lad had most of that, but a piper cam and standalone management, he made 141bhp. 130 would be a good target to aim for.

What ever you do, get a decent gearbox

its a cock and ball ache to get running properly...

    idles very high, poor starts.
  10. #10
Is that with a remap frankie?

i was looking at a s1/s2 rallye box, what do you think?
  12. #12
s1 would be a bitch to live with if you travel alot of for work on national limit roads. 4000rpm at 60mph or something daft. s2 is a little longer so nicer to live with. 1.4 xsi box is ideal i think
  13. #13
the 1.4 xsi is about the same as the vts box isnt it? or is the xsi closer?

just want to achieve more acceleration really but not too stupid lol
  14. #14
    no it wasnt....

i whacked a washer in my ICV so it would retract fully, would idle about 1.4k....bare able.

i think its because on the guide on here he has put the ICV is the wrong place.

going to fit another to my car and going to put it where the icv should be, may have to extend the wire, but i may sort the running isusses.

alos to fit it rob, you have to make an adatopr loom for the TPS sensor.
  15. #15
Sounds like a pain in the arse.

Xsi is shorter than a vts/gti box.
  16. #16
oh right cool frankie, have you fitted your cam yet?

i will look into the TPS sensor etc once i find a inlet to buy lol

also i just found someone with a 1.4 xsi gearbox wanting £100 is that reasonable?
  17. #17
no i didnt rob, sold it, and now sold the car....

    new project ftw.

have a look on rallye reg for the inlet.

100 for the xsi is good id say, mileage?
  18. #18
oh right ok mate fair enough lol

mileage is 85k do you think thats a bit high or be alrite?
  19. #19
    be alrite......

i paid £21 for a vts box. think it was from a car that had done about 90k, its seen 5 new driveshafts over 20k miles (so its probably done 110k)

pretty strong....could always by it do a little refurb on it
  20. #20
do 8Vs respond better to headwok than 16Vs?
  21. #21
How is the ported and polished? could you not do that sort of work yourself! How does the rallye inlet make the car louder?
