Important! : Major Help Needed- Lack of Oil pressure!!!

Sorry bout the long read but its needed!

ARE THE OIL GALLERIES OR WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO CALL THEM DIFFERENT BETWEEN A MK2 VTR, AND A MK2 VTS???

I bought a VTS Turbo end of last year, and after a week it spat out the 3rd con rod and shattered the piston.

    Heres the problem:-

Ive had the engine rebuilt with new wossner pistons and rods etc etc. However when we started it a few weeks back there was no oil pressure. The engine started and turned over first time without any other issues.

Bought a new oil pump from Citroen and it was fitted the weekend. Tried to start it tonight after fitting the new oil pump and started first time. BUT STILL NO OIL PRESSURE!!! Pump was cranked over by hand as your suppose to.

Now when I bought the engine I was told it was from a MK2 VTS that had done 24k.

As some of you will know there is an oil return of some sort that comes from the side of the cam covers, down to a hole at the front of the bottom block. This hole wasnt there- The mark where it should of been was so we think it is a VTR bottom block with a VTS head possibly- even though the engine was delivered in one piece with no signs of it being messed with. The hole was drileld and the pipe fited as it should be.

Oil is flowing round the Oil Cooler and Oil Filter ok. Doesnt appear to be going any further than half way up the block. If you pump oil in to where the Oil Pressure sender is, it comes out the oil filter so it doesnt appear blocked anywhere either.

    thats a strange one mate.

try talking to john at GMC or matt at QEP, they may be able to shed more light on it, they do conversions all the time and will comes across things like that more often.

i was going to say oil pump or a blocked gallery.

Cheers Mate. Don't spose youve got contact numbers for them have you?

Yea we thought it was oil pump or blocked galleries to. But now has a new oil pump, and if you pump oil in to where the Oil Pressure sender is, it comes out the oil filter so it doesnt appear to be a blocked gallery either.

    Weird and so frustrating! lol

Could be a faulty gauge or sender, its probaly worth putting a mechanical gauge on first to check.

I have 2 gauages, both suggest theres an issue- one shows pressure, and the other is the standard oil light on the dash- its very unlikely for both gauges to have stopped working since the rebuild started.

been a while but the issue is now sorted!!

there are oil squirters in the bores that squirt oil at the bottom of the pistons. They werent given back to me by the garage that took my engine apart whern I pulled it out and I didnt realise they were needed/missing until bought a replacement block.

without these these theres no restriction and therefore the buildup of oil pressure isnt gained!
