thats the problem. it will crack no matter how you bond them together.

where did you get the picture from?

    ye thats what i thought...

    from quik_pug off here m8

your supposed to cut a metal grille out and weld it so it dont crack as easily as fillered plastic. i remember predator_vtr saying something about it

doesnt the car look like its floating lol
  8. #8
think he had it on axel stands in that pic lol.

i did hav a thought that u might hav to make a metal grill n weld together
  9. #9
making a metal grill would be the only way i can think of doing it properly. it certainly wont crack then as it will be welded.

it would be a bit tricky to make a metal on though due to the shape.

i have thought about doing it this way myself

not the same tbh, cos the mesh isnt set back which is what i think looks good in the top, and also you still have the weird bit at the top of the grille where the top of th citroen logos normally go.
  13. #13
Yeah that grill looks sweet but does sound tricking of goin bout it to get it done!

just take the grill out and cut and weld a metal peice into the half moon shape at the top. add mesh behind and you have the same as that picture..

    no you wont.

in the picture at the top the mesh is set back which is what makes it look good. it just looks cheap with mesh stuck flat with the body. its the same idea as widemouth-ing the front bumper. it looks a lot better than just meshing it.

i'm supprised you cant see the difference as you work in/(own?) a body shop

    That does look very nice!!

if you seal the dimma or dimma type grill in properly and grind the edge round the grill back a bit i see no reason why it cant be fillered and sanded flat without cracking, im doin mine shortly
  20. #20
bonnet doesnt actually seem to fit that tightly.. theres a small gap between headlights and bonnet.

or maybe thats just the way the pics taken

it will crack as you cant properly bond plastic to metal which has already been said a number of times in this thread

  23. #23
okay just to prove a point i done this on my saxo.. Glued the grill in using 3m glue and then fiberglassed and filled around it - i am now into my second month with this done - bonnet open at least once a week and 100 miles or so a week driven and no cracking...

cant wait to see the pics mate.. what colours your saxo?

dimma's flushed into the bonnet really do amazing! but like said, i woldnt do it unless i was 100% sure it wouldnt crack
  25. #25
my sax is wicked red, i havent sprayed it yet so its still in grey primer - i didnt want to paint it as i myself was not 100% sure it would hold but like i say no problems..
  26. #26
i spotted that goodall how shoddy lol...jst kidding it looks good however i think u should be able filler a dimma grilll to the bonnet without it cracking, ive it a go what u got to loose
  27. #27
