hi, my rocker cover is a lil dirty on my mk2 8v so i would like to spray it another colour. the question is can i use any primer, paint and lacquer or does it have to be heat resistan? and also would anyone be as kind to post some pics of theirs so i can get a good idea of what colour i'm after cheers
Spraying 8v rocker cover...

#2Normal paint will be fine mate. I'd leave it a day or two to cure though... just incase it blisters.
-
#3pretty sure on the rocker cover it will bubble and melt and maybe set alight if you use normal paint?!
id use heat paint be on safe side - i mean they make it for reason
although i used normal paint on my brakes.. -
#4The rocker cover only gets luke warm mate as there's a baffle plate underneath which covers the rockers and stops any oil spraying up.
Heat resistant paint is overkill in this instance... finish won't be as good either. -
#5cheers i'm guessing i should remove it 2 spray then put it back on after a day or so, or should i just leave it on and mask the bay up? also if i remove it will it be a quick job to replace or will i need 2 new gasket? cheers again

#6Hammerite is ideal to use

#7i would deffo use heat resistant paint mate, you could end up burning or blistering the paint, you can get just as good a finish with heat resistant paint as normal paint when done properly m8

#8Best bet is to remove the cover and place some sort of clean bag over the rockers. Be careful when removing it as there's two spacers which hold the baffle plate in place - don't want them dropping into the head.

#9thanks, has anyone got pics of theirs or other peoples?

ontopic: spray the cover with heath resistant spray, the paint won't hold if u don't. -
