I messaged the seller about these a week ago. He said if preferred, he can leave the reflectors untinted or just lightly tinted so they're legal.

would they look as cool then still though :/ ?

if when youshine alight at them and they reflect back there legal if not youhaqve to have reflectors on them, i have some verysimilar i did my self and hadlaquerd.

and will have some just like them but instead of standards they will be 100+rrp led lexus style lightsif your interested. led's should shine through nicely.

they still not legal tho even if he dint tint the reflector, there no good if you carnt see signals throw them clearly

Just buy reflectors if you are worried and smoke them to match your rear bumper.
Just make sure they are sprayed with tinted laquer, not painted solid

    you done them yourself
    are they standard ones sprayed?
how did you got about doing them?
  14. #14
yes there standards, i used the tinting spray but found it was shit so i got a can of matt black paint as i know others has done this befour and did very very very thin coats un till it was at the point of just! being black but if you look closer you can see all the red and stuff so it looks black but the light shines through it perfectly. took me 4 attempts though. then got them laquerd when i had my bonet done.

you can buy the masking spray in any carshop. just apply a few coats to the glass to make it look darker. they'll still be legal.
they reflect and you can still see every lightbulb shine trough fine.
a friend of mine has it on his 306. looks real good

yea the indicator light stillshines through orange and the reverse light white etc, its just a very thin coat of paint thats not thick enough to stop light passing through it. like tinted windows.

i will get one on hear at about 8.30, cheers, cant with the reverse lights though as my reverse switch is broken.
  19. #19
hear we go, brake lights and main lights on in some. if you can see with the flash you can see through the paint and see the red. cheers

No they are not road legal in the slights. They will fail a properly done MOT and by painting them black you have violated the terms of the approval and in so the E approval is void. If you don't believe me ask the police.

Just to reiterate the very basics of road vehicle lighting. There are 3 basics aspects to it.

    1. Lights must be E or BS approved.

    2. Lights must be fitted according to there approval.

    3. Modifying a light in any way voids its approval.

    Simple

So would buying the smoked jewels that i see everyone with off ebay be illegal aswell?

Cus i want somekind of darker lighting as my saxo is black
  24. #24
I don't know about the ones you have mentioned but there are many after market lights that are perfectly legal. You still have to fit them correctly though. You cant stick a headlight at the back of the car or anything daft like that.

I had these on my saxo lol left the reflective strip untinted though!
