vtr tuning. NEED MORE POWER!

  1. #1
hi all, i have a 97'model vtr black rocker cover. I have a green enclosed induction kit and full exhaust inc de-cat. I need more power, what should i go for next? cam? manifold? etc. also can you unlock the ecu and get rid of rev limiter? Thanks Matt

no point in getting rid of the rev limiter you dont make any power with your current mods from around 5600 onwards.

Manifold is the next logical step after that your gonna have to consider your options.

cam and remap/dastek > throttle bodies possibly.
    super/turbo charger

or ditch the vtr lump for a vts

will a manifold make much difference to performance?
  4. #4
not much tbh but neither does an exhaust and filter really
  5. #5
would cam and re-map b betta?
  6. #6
the two go hand in hand really the standard vtr manifold is pish

were is the best place to buy a manifold? any1 got a second hand s/s 1?
  8. #8
Best place to get a manifold from is gmc motorsport in scotland. If your after one 2nd hand have a look in the for sale forums here and on ssc (saxo sports club).

go manifold den cams n pulley den chip for added performance

my advice is a supersprint/gmc manifold, piper 285s, vernier pulley, port, polish and skimmed and a good jampsoprt re-map and to finish it off strip it

imo instead of buying a manifold, cams and getting it remapped etc you'd be better off just buying a vts engine. makes more sense- more bhp per £.

^agreed, by the time you pay for cams, remap, manifold you could have dropped a vts lump in which will give you more power straight away.

i got a 4 branch manifold and i find the car is more responsive when you plant you foot on the gas pedal.
