Best suspension mods for £500?

  1. #1
Looking to spend about £500 on suspension for my 02 VTR. What would be the best way to go about it. I may spend more if need be.

Forgot to say....fast road/road rally type spec

Springs, dampers, upper and lower strut braces are the best bet mate.

Really depends on how much you wanted to spend on literally just the shock and spring combo.

So for example, you could spend all that £500 on the -50mm Bilstein B8 kit from kamracing.

An alternative would be say for £207 you could buy the apex -50mm kit from kamracing and along with that you could get upper and lower OMP braces, a powerflex lower engine mount, powerflex rear beam bushes, powerflex front antiroll bar bushes, powerflex front wishbone bushes and still have about 80-100 notes left over for saaaaay i dunnoooooooo a new 106 gti rear 24mm anti roll bar off of ebay.

Whats it to be then lol.

im in exactly same situation wantin to spend £500 on my vts. was gonna get the bilstein b8 dampers, faulkner 45mm springs, and polybush the lot but bilstein put there prices up 30% on the 31st jan so the b8's on kamracing.co.uk went from £247 to £400 overnight its hardly a 30% hike more like 60%. iv emailed them about it and had no response.

anywayz im just gonna keep lookin on ebay my friends got exactly the same setup on his vtr and says that it's the shit

Having done a bit of research it looks like I may need to spend more. larger torsion bar would take a huge chunk out of £500 and seems to be the way to go....or is it? Any help/advice appreciated.

the Bilsteins were on special offer and now they're not, makes the price hike seem greater.

if you want to keep in budget the Apex are a good kit to chose, combine that with some polyrace bushes (stiffer than powerflex), upper and lower strut braces and some uprated engine mounts and you'll be on your way to improving things massively.

    PM sent re this topic.

Wasn't counting braces in the budget, toying with idea of sumpguard as opposed to lower brace, cos our public roads are the worst in the country here, and I also go on unpaved roads a lot

a sumpguard protects the sump rather than holding the suspension in place.

Have heard that Gaz units are good...but no experience of them. Anyone had a set of these?

I've used gaz adjustable dampers on another car, they were very good. They're much the same as avos which are good too.
