this is my vtr earlier today after being washed.
im planning on getting it lowered shortly but dont know how low to go.
also i have 15'' alloys on at the min but have a set of standard vtr one to. which would look better?
    will lowering 60 pass MOT?

any advise would be great. cheers

    50 on vts wheels

you will get some problems with lowering it 60mm and will kill your suspension unleess you upgrade it, plus lowering 40mm is best for handling and mt suspension is fine and haven't needed to change anything!!
    40mm ftw

Mine's been 60mm on standard dampers for almost a year now, done a track day on em, and its still fine.

But, i've just bought a Spax PSX kit so its back up to 40mm for me, which I agree, is claimed to be a better height for handling, maybe its why my old car felt more stable?

Go 60...mine is down 60 on standard shocks for about a year...the rear shocks have started to leak but its all good! lol. Everyone says 40 is best for handling but mine handles like a dream

    O and 60 looks 100times better

Tom is right, if you want the look, 60mm and dont pussy around with thinking 50mm might cut it and look 60 but still retain some handling because it wont you will always want 60mm

Having said that, 40mm is still very good and as alot have said the handling is also very good. But if you know at heart you are in it for the crusing at -60mm then dont hesitate, just uprate your dampers lol.

    im going 60 all round

25ftw!. well im on pugsport gravel dampers and falkner 225lb springs and grpN's at the back, handles better than it did before when it was down 40 on spax springs

With that sort of setup, im not surprised, not sure he was on about anything that sorted lol.

Why does everyone get the gravel dampers instead of the tarmac ones?
  21. #21
same spring rate just a bit longer iirc

Surely the spring rate is dependant on the spring spec you use and not the damper?

Is the tarmac one shorter you mean? Like a standard shock and then a Billie B8 in comparison?
  23. #23
sorry meant the damping rate. yes tarmac one is shorter or so ive been told on ssc and shed
  24. #24
    cool man cheers bud
  25. #25
Depends what your using the car for mate???

is it going to be used for the odd track day or do you want it purely for looks or a bit of both?

    40mm or less - Handling
    50mm - Handling and looks
    60mm or more - Looks
  26. #26
so does the car pass mot when lowered 60mm.
ive heard they fail cars if they are too low.
    any truth in it?
have any of you guys put a vtr/vts through mot while lowered 60mm??
  27. #27

does anyone have any pics of vtr/vts lowered 40mm and 60mm to help me decide what to lower?
i need a little help lads. lol
  30. #30
60 looks better imo as 40 doesnt look low enough , however if u have rear pasengers i wouldnt go 60 , mine rubs over bumps at 40 with a full car
  31. #31
ours is 50mm front 45mm rear for passengers etcs on vts wheels 3 passengers in the back and it dosent rub..............looks superb!!!!!!

    but i would go 40mm
  32. #32
have a look at dsh85's guide

but heres mine down 60mm front 40mm rear (because of the install it evens it out)
