spraying brake calipers

  1. #1
should a laquer be used, if so which one, once painted the desired colour??

I didnt use a lacquer on mine, just get yourself the trusty 250ml tin of the desired hammerite colour, wire brush all rust and brake dust off, use white spirit or something similar to get the rest of the shit off and then go fourth and apply three coats.

You will get a result looking something like mine below, i went for a yellow for my 266mm setup.

    Job done.

I would go for a tin of paint that you brush on mate, spray paint is applied too thin imo and would peel quite easily. You wouldnt need to sod around with laquer then either as they give quite a nice glossy finish. I done mine about a year ago now and they still come up like new when cleaned, and they havent peeled one bit

Definately not worth the hassle masking up or removing the calipers to spray. Hammerite and a brush bought mine up looking amazing. Just take your time and make sure you have a clean surface to paint on by wire brushing off all the crap and brake dust.
