60 mm lowering on vtr ? wht u think

  1. #1
will this be to low and does it start causing problems with the car , will be getting lowered on the standard springs
  2. #2
60mm is ok to do on most wheels

however lowering on standard spring is not going to lower it
you either mean standard shocks (i would advise getting good dampers going 60mm)
or cutting springs (DO NOT DO THIS!!!!)

Yes, it will cause problems with the cars standard shocks possibly straight away or soon after and your PAS pipe will need bending out that way at that height as well.

    Looks good though

My car is dropped 55 on front 60 on back on vtr 14" s looks sweet, but id advise you to uprate the shocks. My handle is shyte because i chose not to uprate the shocks.

40mm is pretty much maximum but you still may find wear after a period of time.

Good effort mate! Dont often hear about people machining their own OEM shocks down to get lower and then cutting springs to match.

Cant imagine it being that safe, probably why no one else attempts it lol.

    deffo not safe
im going to be lowering my 40mm this month
wanted to go 60mm but everyone has told me about the shocks
if mine still bottom out im gonna invest in better shocks then go 60mm

Tbh they probly will bottom/top out if they have done loads of miles. No point in getting 40mm springs then realising that they arent as low as you want, then buying a new set of shocks and 60mm springs.

Might as well get it right first time.

60mm looks good but isnt that great for handling. also some nice stiff shocks would be good. when i lowered mine just with springs a few years ago i hit the brakes and the front bumper dived into the ground and ripped itself off. I learnt my lesson

Hahahaha see tom learnt the hard way lol.
  13. #13
i certainly did but do i learn from my mistake noooooooo
  14. #14
    well atleast ur stiffer now.

What setup you running may i ask? Pm me it if u like not really relevant for in here. Suspension/handling i mean.
  15. #15
When I was down 60mm it wasnt too bad on spax psx but it definitely handled better at 40mm. Also when i was down at 60mm my driveshafts fucked pretty quickly

    Too much!

group n billies and a few secret bits

60 front 80 rear over here, done about 6 years ago on standard shocks and everything is still fine! i fancy some new shocks though as standard ones arent great for handling and i fancy some track action in the summer

my mate had his car lowered 60 all round and he could not have anyone in the back because the belly of the car would scrape of those fucking square annoying speed bumps! lol so watch out for those mate. but other than that it looks sweet dude.
  20. #20
one of my friends is 60 rear and can go over the square bumps without touching at all, you know with 2 wheels each side? underside of the car clears it completely, he has 60 profile tryes though if that makes much difference
  21. #21
hmm maybe he had it dropped 80 at the back then because it really did scrape with people in the back.
  22. #22
lol loving the speed boaters ...................ours is 50mm front and 45mm rear looks good and handles really well, perfect

    ahh your right there
but since i live in wales
tend to hit alot of dodgy lanes and mountain roads
so might not be a good idea with 60mm
but if i suddenly come into money (i will)
which i should since i was involved in a crash today
    in my mates mg zr
a mk1 nova hit us from the side as we turned right
    obv tried ova taking us
    stupid prick like

mines dropped 55 on the front and 70 on the back, not had any probs yet, although im gunna uprate the shocks soon as it can be abit spongey under hard cornering, looks the tits tho!!

If its a phase 1 saxo u dont hav to worry bout the power steering pipe as it only rubs on the phase 2's, dnt ask me y
