Blue lit dials

  1. #1
I see some listings on ebay for blue bulbs to convert the standard dials to shine blue instead of green, but I thought the dials themselves had a green film on. Don't really want aftermarket dials, just don't want the cheap green lighting!

    Anyone done this before?

I know the Mk2 Saxos use surface mount LEDs and I am pretty sure the Mk1s are the same as well.

So it's probably a no go then? Aftermarket dials only?

your right.. mark ones have bulbs and the dials have a green film on them.. so aftermarket is really the only way unless maybe some dials with a blue film in them??

I forgot to say its a mk2 with the white 140mph dials in.

Didn't really wanna spend £40 to be honest, although they do look cool. I was just looking for a quick DIY fix!

if you find the right bulbs you can get them for rougly £12
fitting is easy if you have an adjustable colum just drop it and take cluster out and swap bulbs

Pretty sure all Mk2s use surface mount LEDs so to change the colour you need to take the dial arms off, unsolder the current LEDs and then solder on new colour LEDs.

Pred has got a guide of how to do it.

Very cheap to do but you need to be careful when removing dials and a steady hand to solder.

My soldering looks like a pigeon has shit all over the contacts, so probably best to give that one a miss!
