Exhaust Sounds Advice

   Well i need some advice
   
   Im looking to buy just a backbox atm as insurance is quite high as it is, but i dont really want the standard one, nor do i want a really loud one.
   
   I want a subtle one that when your just cruising around it sounds not to different from standard, but when you boot it, gives a nice roar. I know i might be asking alot but i live in a quiet area and dont wanna sound like im doing 100mph when im parking lol.
   
   Am i asking too much lol? I was thinking the supersprint 2" race backbox, but kam are still sold out

   Hmmm the supersprint race box is a good choice but you wont get the proper sound without the centre section to go with and to an extent also a replacement manifold too.
   
   I know supersprint are sold out at kam so if i was you, take a look at the piper backboxes they do on there because alot of those are similar sorts of styles to the supersprint and look very good too.

   i like my piper
   but a backbox alone wont make a massive difference in noise

   Yeah eventually ill get a full system, but i dont think my insurance will like it too much, will be cheaper when i turn 19 in a few months
   
   I was going to buy the piper 3" outwardly rolled backbox, would it fit standard center and could i do it myself?

   good choice imo (as i have that box )
   
   its 2 bolts and 2 rubber hangers

   the pipers a decent build quality and sound good
   its of similar quality to the supersprint and a few other makes
   
   i just prefer the looks of a bigger box (not silly like a 4" though lol)

   supersprint box ftw you could always get the full system and just fit the backbox till you can deal with the insurance

    Or Supersprint Offer a better looking tail pipe to the 2inch race system one and thats the Magnum one.

    Yeh its abit of a toss up i suppose, depends on the overall look yor going for to as well all know. Race rear for me everytime though.

    I have had both...the only car a small tail pipe looks good on is a 106 gti..Doesnt look right on a Saxo
    
    Magnum gives of nice noise and isnt as raw as the race back box

    Don't mean to hi-jack your thread but hopefully it will help your decision aswell, especially when you come to look for a centre section..
    
    I am leaning towards getting a 3" piper aswell..
    
    Firstly, what's the difference between the mid steel backbox and stainless steel backbox? What do most people go for?
    
    Secondly, as said above, the backbox alone wouldn't make that much difference to sound so what would be a good centre pipe to get?

    i prefere the bigger looking boxes but i dont like them pee shooter supersprint ones.. :/ magnex are quite quiet and sound sporty bit pricey tho but like all systems you wont get the sound form just the backbox its defo gonna have to be mani middle section ect get the wallet out
