Pug 206 Vtr/Vts

   Hi guys, i know i'm not exactly a frequent poster or on here much, but seeing as this is a saxo forum and i'm looking for a saxo engine conversion i thought this was the best place to look. I'm planning on putting in either a mkII Vtr engine or Vts lump into my (currently TU3) 206 quiksilver.
   
   However, after lots of (somewhat conflicting) research i have decided it would not be feasible to attempt to do this myself, as i do not know exactly how to get it to run (loom, ecu, transponder etc), and i am not sure if i have the right engine mounts.
   
   However, I have found Frenchsport Tuning, who will do the Vtr conversion for 700, or Vts/Gti for 1000 quid, including the engine!
   
   Is this a good price, or are there cheaper options out there?
   
   For example i have read a lot about RCD on here?
   
   Any suggestions would be brilliant, or if anyone knows of a cheap vtr or vts engine from a low mileage/late model saxo!

   Not sure if what your asking is possible, I'm pretty sure if you were to call www.rickyp-rpm.co.uk (Rickyp-rpm member ID here) he would be able to confirm what is/is'nt possible.

   Surely it is possible, especially the Vtr as the same engine is used in the 206 xs, but they never used the silvertop (98bhp) version because they dropped the xs in favour of the 16v xsi?

   why not opt for the 206 gti engine mate. Doubtless will be easier.

   i can assure you it is far easier to put a vtr in than a gti. Vtr's are 8v tu lumps, exactly the same as what i have in there at the moment, just a bit more poke

   sod that, you might as well go and buy an XSI
   if you are going to do an engine conversion then there is one option. 306 gti-6. Run it with a 5 speed and most parts will be available off the shelf including a loom and ecu

   I was going to suggest the C2 VTS lump but the GTI-6 one sonds far fruitier and seemingly simpler

    As fas as the gti-6 lump is concerned, i'm not sure a 19 year old will get insured that easily on one of those under the bonnet, which is why i suggested something more of a mild upgrade such as the vtr/vts, plus the most i was looking to shell out was about £1k, which the gti/vts suited perfectly! Is the c2 vs similarly priced?
    Furthermore, i've been a member of 206info for a while but they are generally not interested in anything technical, they would rather stick on lexus lights and stubby aerials. As a whole the only conversions that take place are done professionally by ecosse or pug1off or someone similar!

    IMO I'd wait, save up a bit more, and drop a 306 gti-6 lump in.
    
    The extra bhp from dropping one in, rather than tuning a c2 gt lump will be much better and cheaper in the long run.
    
    I wouldn't compromise if you're going to put a different engine in, may as well put the best engine in - even if you have to save for a few more months.
    
    Going from a tu3 - 75bhp to a 160bhp gti-6 lump would be worth the cost.
    goign from a tu3 - 75bhp to a 120bhp vts lump - not really worth it when the above option is on the table.
    going from tu3 - 75bhp to a 98bhp vtr lump wouldn't be worth the £1k cost.

    yes but the gti-6 conversion costs a lot more than the vts/gti engine, so bhp/£ is better on the vts, and the gti-6 lump would be older as well!
    
    Cost is a big issue to a university student

    Factor in the insurance increase and you'd be better off buying the quicker car to start with imo buddy.
    
    Also factor in that your car won't be worth much after it is done.
    
    I drive a 206 gti, qucik car with all the mod cons and i'll have a massive market to sell it to when the time comes. My insurance is a grand ish and that's at 20 with 2 years no claims.

    GTI-6? Wouldn't a 206 gti 180 engine be a better option if you're going for that much power...
