i have a 1.1i, its very slow so can anyone recommend any performance mods?
performance

#1

#21.1's have a tendency to be rather slow mate
you could do the obvious breather mods such as: full exhaust with decat, enclosed air filter etc
then stripping out the back end of useless stuff, such as backseats, bootcarpet, rear cards etc
and if none of that takes your fancy...drop a vtr or vts lump under the bonnet
-
#3how expensive is that?
-
#4depends on the quality you wana go for
for a budget exhaust sytem - powerflow do them pretty cheaply £150ish
for a good one - magnex full system can be upwards of £350 ish
enclosed filter wil cost upward of £120
and stripping the rear end doesnt cost anything as u do it yourself if you have the tools -
#5probs cud get it done for just under a grand?? depends who u kno i guess on the price. its the insurance that cud be the killer sometimes
edit - on bout the engine swap
-
#6the insurance is a killer already
are the elec superchargers any good? -
#7how much would a powerflow increase the bhp
-
#8if u do a search mate for electric a couple of results will come up on the topic. its a big no no though in just about everyones opinion i think lol
think this quote best sums it up in another thread:

how does it work: powered of battery physically IMPOSSIBLE for it to create boost.
Does it work: like a chocolate tea pot -
#9electric superchargers DO NOT work, dont even contemplate it!
and a powerflow wont increase bhp much,if at all! unless its twinned with other mods. -
#10is there any thing i cant do to increase the power of my car. i am willing to spend up to £300, wants the best i can do or is better just to buy a vts or vtr
-
#11for the 300 you might get a 1 or 2 horse rise, not really worth it, it was designed to cart shopping and stuff, never to be powerful
-
#12just buy a vts mate.
you'll not get anything out of a 1.1 for £300 -
#13agree with joe just put the 300 quid towards a vts transplant thats what i did, love it to bits
-
#14what about an induction kit any good?
-
#15think that sums up any questions you have about tuning it mate if you want a faster saxo your better off saving up n going for a vtr/vtsQuote:Originally Posted by Scottit was designed to cart shopping and stuff, never to be powerful

#16i thought so but a vts are like £4000 and been moded and been thrashed
-
#17i got a 1.1sx i, and yup they are slow lol and iv got an induction kit, it dont make much difference just makes it sound noisey
-
#18why have all vts been thrashed, you can find a decent one if you shop around.or go for vtr mate, get them for cheaper than £4000
-
#19I have got a 1.1 aswell mate. Unfortunately the engine has simply not been made to go fast, if your serious about power the only answer would be to get a vtr/s lump or actually get a vtr/s! a induction kit will give the engine more of a roar but thats all.
-
#20yeh agreed. You can't really increase the BHP on the engine as it is built to be shite lol but induction kit will make it sound a bit better.
For now you'll just have to enjoy the countryside like me and other 1.1 owners instead of going fast
-
#21even if the vts has been thrased what does that matter? buying a 1.1 off a young lad and you know its had a hard life cos they attempt to rag the tits off it. At least a VTS is designed for it, infact id go as far to say that most VTS drivers dont really know how to drive them

now theres a bold statement ha ha -
#22bold but very true mate!
1.1s will be ragged like fuck to make them go as fast as they can
vts will be ragged, but since overall topend is considerably higher and doesnt take as long to get there...people wont do it so often..!
If you get me -
#23If your car is to slow then get a better/higher model, no point in spending money on 1.1's, mines slow, but after all i'd rather it be slow then fast, aslong as it sounds nice then speed doent bother me at all, iam not going to race anyone & iam not going to go around breaking the speed limit, something which is easy to do in vtr & vts's
